Sunday July 26 [Seattle Art Fair Edition]

Meeting at 12:30 in front of @seattleartfair Seattle Art Fair, we will walk over to the South Trailhead of Future Arts Way and begin at King Street Station and walk north through Pioneer Square. Led by Future Arts' Executive Director @futurebruk Yuliya Bruk, this guided AR tour moves through Seattle's oldest neighborhood, past independent bookshops, artist-run galleries, and community-built spaces, unlocking 10 augmented reality stories woven into the streets and storefronts along the way.

➕Friday July 31 [Seattle Tech Week Edition]

Starting at 1:30, this AR walking tour is Led by Future Arts Technical Director @kintsugidigital.io José Gabriel Contreras.

Start at the iconic arches of @pacsci Pacific Science Center, the north trailhead of Future Arts Way, and walk south through Belltown as the city lights up around you. This tour weaves through community storefronts, artist-run studios, and cultural hubs, unlocking augmented reality stories rooted in Coast Salish histories, Afrofuturism, and the living futures of Seattle’s most vibrant neighborhoods. Arrive at the epicenter of 3rd & Pine just as the night sets in, where @remesha_designlab Divine Ndemeye’s Parasitic Healing Bath transforms the downtown skybridge into a cascading AR waterfall, plants, symbols, and ancestral medicine pouring into the street.

📲 The Future Arts Way ‘AR drop’ is a special one of 35+ installed @benaroyahall ready for you to experience in augmented reality. ✨

Swipe through the carousel to see how we marked this occasion as 3rd Avenue came to life! Part of our 2.5-mile AR trail, we are honored to feature ‘Flower Dance in AR’—an immersive extension of the massive sculptural work ‘S/ounds’ by Ivan Toh Depena @depenastudio.

To create this experience, creative technology artist Jose Gabriel Contreras @synesthetic._ and the future arts curatorial team enlivened Ivan’s original inspiration: a musical piece by composer Reena Esmail @reenaesmail. Watch ancestral plants bloom right before your eyes, as they dance to an excerpt from a musical piece Reena created during her residency with the @seattlesymphony.

We recently celebrated this launch on 3rd Ave, and we want to extend a special thanks to @seaofficeofarts @mayorofseattle Katie Wilson for trying augmented reality for the first time with us!

Thank you to everyone who joined us to champion the artists and technologists redefining our city’s cultural landscape: Amy Nguyen and the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture, DSA @downtownseattle, @artechfas, @futurebruk, @wandering__bones, @eroynfranklin @asoliloquiy, and the @officeofarts (and Culture) team for bringing this collaboration to life.

Thanks to @bittersuitecreative for capturing the occasion and @allieguey for the epic selfie!

More artworks are coming to life in the coming weeks as our vinyl AR ‘drops’ fill the sidewalks of Downtown Seattle with stories of the land. (Y)our future is bright, and it’s being built at the intersection of innovation and community.

Celebrating 3rd Avenue coming to life with arts leaders!

As part of our Future Arts Way augmented reality 2.5 mile trail, we are honored to collaborate on bringing a huge sculptural work by Ivan Toh Depena @depenastudio to life through augmented reality, with an extension called ‘Flower Dance in AR’.
We celebrated this artwork and many others going up on 3rd Ave at a ceremony earlier this week at @benaroyahall.

Creative technology artist Jose Gabriel Contreras @wandering__bones worked alongside future arts team and @seaofficeofarts to enliven Ivan’s original inspiration, a musical piece by @reenaesmail through plants blooming from the artists’ ancestral backgrounds, timed to an excerpt from a musical piece Reena created during her residency with the @seattlesymphony.

Special thanks to @mayorofseattle Katie Wilson for trying augmented reality for the first time! Amy Nguyen and the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture, @downtownseattle Association, @Artechfas, Yuliya Bruk @futurebruk, Jose Gabriel Contreras, and others for joining us to champion the artists and technologists redefining our city’s cultural landscape.

More artworks is coming to life in the coming weeks, as our vinyl AR ‘drops’ fill the sidewalks of Downtown Seattle with stories of the land. (Y)our future is bright, and it’s being built at the intersection of innovation and community.

Special thanks to Adetola Abatan @asouliloquy and @seaofficeofarts and culture for bringing this collaboration to life!

Thank you @bittersuitecreative for capturing the occasion with your content creation. by @futurebruk

We're so close I can't wait to show you everything we've been working on with @futureartsco and the city.

Thanks for the kind words @mayorofseattle. And look at these beautiful photos in @benaroyahall's octave 9 immersive space! Great photos by @bittersuitecreative

Let's keep telling beautiful stories in as many mediums we can, whether that’s a symphony, an image, or augmented reality. 🚀

Congrats @futurebruk @wandering__bones and the rest is the future arts team for the beautiful AR art. And of course everyone involved with the physical design and installation of the Sounds piece.
