Today, weā€™re feeling a whole lot of gratitude. ā¤ļø Our FIRST class with the George Crockett Academy students at @corecity_fitness was nothing short of INCREDIBLE! Now that the news is out that FYR Detroit is taking over @core_city_crossfit_kids , we want to take a moment to honor and celebrate @helentaylorfitness and everything she has built. Over the last five years, weā€™ve had the privilege of witnessing her journey ā€” serving the youth in her community, running a nonprofit, fundraising, building relationships, celebrating the wins, and working through the challenges that come with doing this kind of work. And, as anyone who has poured themselves into a mission knows, it can be tough work. Through all of it, Helen has been there. Her belief in the kids, the community, and the power of this program has made an impact that goes far beyond a gym. What she has created through Core City CrossFit Kids is something truly special. We are honored to have the opportunity to carry forward what she started and continue building on the foundation she worked so hard to create. Helen, thank you for trusting us, for sharing this journey with us, and for showing up for our community in so many ways. We hope you know how deeply appreciated you are and how much your work has meant to all of us. And while this may be a new chapter, you will always have a place with us. Our doors are open, and we would absolutely love to have you join us whenever youā€™d like ā€” whether thatā€™s to coach, visit, encourage the kids, or simply hang out and be part of the community you helped build. WE HAVE SOME GREAT NEWS!!!!!!! Iā€™m so excited to share some wonderful news about the future of Core City CrossFit Kids! @klsmith0224 from @fyrdetroit will be taking over CCCK under her nonprofit organization and continuing our CrossFit program with the kids at George Crockett Academy. Not only is Kelsey an amazing CrossFit coach, sheā€™s also a wonderful person who Iā€™ve known for several years. Knowing that she is willing to step in and continue what we started means more to me than I can say. I truly couldnā€™t have asked for a better outcome. Iā€™m so thankful that these kids will continue to have the opportunity to do CrossFit, get stronger, build confidence, and be part of a program that has meant so much to all of us. While I wonā€™t be involved in the same role anymore, Iā€™ll definitely be checking in on the kids and following their progress and Iā€™ll keep you all updated from time to time. Iā€™m so grateful to Kelsey and FYR Detroit for giving Core City CrossFit Kids a new chapter. I canā€™t wait to see where they take it! Our athletes are stepping into leadership roles, becoming mentors, role models, and encouragers for the next generation in our community. Theyā€™re learning that true growth means lifting others up, sharing what theyā€™ve learned, and helping younger athletes believe in whatā€™s possible. This is bigger than training. Itā€™s about building confidence, character, connection, and a community that grows stronger together. The next generation is watchingā€”and our athletes are ready to show them the way. šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø TOGETHER, WE REMEMBER. TOGETHER, WE HONOR. šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø Our 9/11 Climb was a powerful reminder of what happens when a community comes together with purpose. Students, staff, families, athletes, first responders, and community members showed up to honor the 412 first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001. For 41 minutes and 20 seconds, our community moved togetherā€”walking, running, climbing, training, and challenging ourselves in their memory. A special thank you to the incredible organizations and partners who showed up and helped make this event possible: Woodhaven-Brownstown School District Woodhaven-Brownstown Athletics Woodhaven Fire Department FYR Detroit Expanding Horizons CrossFit Warriors Your presence, energy, and commitment made this more than a fitness event.
