An update on where we are at with the community led clean up and what is still needed. A bit of an explanation as to why this mobilisation is essential right now and why we couldn’t wait for the council to get their money/compensation to actually act.

This action is essential right now due to the high tides that we see this week. We are desperate for volunteers to join us at beaches as north as Newbiggin and as far south as Sunderland and beyond. We have a website explaining what is needed and where and when to be. Please don’t wait for someone to tell you though when you come and help. I’ve put a link below about the main messages being shared on the various groups. This is an incredible display of people power, beaches up and down the country coming out to organise and get this done. Mass mobilisation is needed.

I cannot stress enough. We do not have a large scale response from the officials. We do not have equipment on any beach other than the fish quay on a morning. @nurdleuk are LEGENDS but they are only on one beach south of the river, they are not able to be North of the river where we are.

Married 25yrs ago today! Cant believe how lucky I am. What a journey, what an adventure! Here’s to the next! I honestly wouldn’t want to be on this roller coaster with anyone else! Huge weekend watching Bo smash out a Shakespearean monologue in the northern regional finals of the @nationalyouthmonologues ! Bo went on to be one of the select few winners to earn a place in the national finals from nearly 4000 auditions. So many phenomenal performances from other actors and a super smooth event run by the team, in the stunning @crewe.lyceum! Of course we couldn’t be prouder, but tbh this was 100% all Bo, a recognition of his passion, practise and drive to perform and do his best. He carries little doubt. Has a self confidence, professional and humble supportive tone, that is mature beyond his years. It’s amazing to see him shine. Also I can’t thank those enough, who have supported this journey, either by showing up, cheering on, or spending time and positive encouragement. Special thanks goes to all his teachers, tutors and mentors and pals in all forms of life. Especially @s_a_cowell @livetheatrenewcastle youth group @artsnorthstudios @act2cam @pqanewcastle @j19hutch @joecoopermusic_ @jhutchviolin & of course partner in crime @lauren_davies & Tata & Granda for joining us! SAS Paddle-out Protest 2026

The day we stood for justice. The day we made a stand against pollution. The day we took action.

An amazing turn out as a part of @surfersagainstsewage national campaign, thank you to everyone who came to support the protest to show the government that enough is enough.

Tynemouth MP Alan Campbell Mp (Tynemouth) as Leader of the House of Commons holds a very powerful role within a government not in opposition but in power. Sadly though we invited Sir Alan to come and witness the show of solidarity for change we received no response from his office.

L’ex-pro surfeur anglais était l’invité du 26ème épisode d’Inside EuroSIMA consacré à l’histoire de la surf-industry européenne et produit par vos serviteurs pour @eurosimafamily.

Gabe y raconte son parcours, ses débuts de surfeur pro, puis sa reconversion, dans la réalisation de documentaires à succès, mais aussi chez Quiksilver et enfin Patagonia où il a géré la branche surf européenne de la marque pendant 12 ans. Celui qui affectionne les (très) solides vagues raconte aussi l’histoire du gilet de surf gonflable Patagonia.

Un personnage incontournable de la scène surf européenne, avec qui on a passé un super moment.

So very honoured to have met my heroes today! Spending time with SAS crew, WASP crew and Heather’s family Julie and Tom. Many of these radical and inspiring humans were featured in the Dirty Business Ch4 show. It was great to recap on the impact so far, align on the year ahead and hear war stories of the journey it has taken to get this far. What can you do to help this motley crew….?!

[INSIDE EUROSIMA PODCAST] A new extract of our latest podcast with Gabe Davies, Surf activist, former pro surfer & former Ocean Marketing Manager at Patagonia.

Gabe Davies dives into the reality of safety in big wave surfing, from impact vests and risk management to the importance of proper training before charging big waves.

He explains why surfers must first complete the Big Wave Risk Assessment Group (BWRAG), a safety program that goes far beyond big wave surfing, and applies to conditions ranging from under one meter to six meters.

They also address first aid, CPR, and the ambition to bring together the best watermen from Hawaii, Europe, Ireland and Nazaré, to share knowledge and build a stronger safety culture within the global surf community.

A powerful insight into how performance, responsibility and preparation go hand in hand.

After twelve years, I am leaving Patagonia. In the beginning, I was hired to drive their surf program, but little did I appreciate how much impact this role would have. I would never have believed I would speak on behalf of the company at the UN Ocean Conference, @eurosimafamily, ISPO, @blueearthsummit deliver a +200K petition of your signatures to EU governments or attend Equinor’s AGMs to protest fossil fuel expansion.

I will tell you what I’m most proud of - building a counter-culture influence that changed the $urf industry! I helped instigate tipping points that saw brands ditch toxic neoprene for natural rubber across the board. Incredible. I’m so proud of that. From day one, until the most recent wetsuit prototype, I have used every piece of influence I have had to create better and more responsible wetsuits. I leave knowing we hit that bar - an epic looking suit with @yulexllc @bureo Fair Trade USA and Rainforest Alliance - something I’ve always dreamed of.

Having started professional life as a pro surfer, transitioning to one of the most prestigious brands in the world has been quite an adventure. My values for creating a more inclusive and healthy ocean space will continue. Right now, between chasing winter waves (ideally with a 6mm, impact vest and step up board!) and being with my family, I am excited to be able to spend more time with @surfersagainstsewage as the recently appointed Chair of Trustees (a voluntary role).
