Made it to the higher land of Gasa, and off to the true Highlands of Laya tomorrow. I’ve reconnected with old friends and made so many new ones along the way. The message from the locals here is loud and clear: tell the world how much climate change is impacting us and changing our community. Curious to learn and experience more. Also, stoked to go on a run today where my legs did not feel like rubbish today for the first time since the Mammoth 200!

200 miles through the Eastern Sierra Nevada, and @gabejoyes took the win at @themammoth200 .

It was his first race at the distance, and his only plan was “good vibes only”. He hiked every step he could early on, kept his naps to 15 minutes and told himself “it’s time to go for a run” every time he left his crew. At mile 120 he saw “the largest number I have ever seen on my watch”, with 100 miles still to go. He finished with a victory lap up Mammoth Mountain alongside @jennyjoyes.

All in our iconic M-Arizona cap. Huge congrats, Gabe. Here’s to the next big number on your watch.

Four years ago I stepped into the unknown of the Himalayan Mountains and the Kingdom of Bhutan, both a landscape and culture that were completely unfamiliar to me. It turned into a peak life experience, and what I could only assume was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It seems that lightning can strike twice, as a couple months ago I received the invite to come back and be a part of the @snowmanrace again. It felt like I had to make a choice between the Mammoth 200 and Snowman Race, which after months of specific training for the @themammoth200 felt like an impossible choice. Somehow the audacious idea of attempting to do both snuck in. Objectively, doing both is a poor decision, and I am well aware of that. I’ve wrestled with it, lost sleep over it, but ultimately I decided to get on the plane for another incredible adventure, even if there is only 19 days in between the two events. Am I recovered from The Mammoth? Of course not! But if I have one running power that has never let me down it is my ability to bounce back quickly, so I’m leaning into that and hoping it continues to be true. Stay tuned for more details on the 5-day and 115-mile stage race across the Himalayan Mountains all in the name of climate action.

Gabe Joyes recently won the Mammoth 200. 🏔️ Swipe to see the finish. ➡️

218 miles. About 30,000 feet of climbing. 51 hours, 35 minutes, 11 seconds. His first 200-mile race, and he came out on top.

Afterward, Gabe said it felt deeply satisfying to put together the race he knew he had in him, and that having family, friends, and community behind him made it even better.

Congrats, Coach Gabe Joyes! We’re so proud of you. 👏

A week before @themammoth200 I did not expect @jennyjoyes and my kiddos to make it to the race. Work and travel felt overwhelming for her, and I had pushed my melancholy emotions on this to the side and just accepted it as a challenge to overcome. I chose to focus on the fact that I had an amazing crew of my coach @runtellyrun, her partner Greg, my dear friends @ajmalley and @aloomis808 , and the Wyoming local legend @huntley_kid. It all came together at the last moment with Jenny making the 12+ hour drive solo, and she ended up pacing me three different times for something like a total of 40 miles. Josh paced me for over 70 miles total, and Alex ran with me for 12 miles in the depths of night too. I ended up with the dream team for the race, and our only team rule was “good vibes only”. 200-mile races take the team aspect of ultra running to another level, so my advice to any other 200 mile curious runners out there is to surround yourself with folks who are simply the best and totally get you.

A mammoth effort deserves a mammoth debrief. 🏔️

Gabe Joyes just won the Mammoth 200, running 218 miles in 51 hours, 35 minutes, and 11 seconds. Gabe and his coach, Chantelle Robitaille, are sitting down to record a podcast episode about the race, and they want your questions.

Race strategy, training, fueling, sleep (or the lack of it), mindset, coaching... ask them anything.

📝 Submit your questions by Saturday using the link in our bio.

This is what leading the final miles of @themammoth200 looks like… #pureJoyes. After taking a commanding lead early in the race, @gabejoyes held on and never looked back finishing in 51 hours and 33 minutes. Congrats to our 2026 men’s champion Gabe Joyes!

Well here we are: just about to toe the line for the Mammoth 200. I’m just happy to be here and am so curious what the experience will be like. I wouldn’t be here at all without some incredible back end of the season support from @mounttocoast, @raide.research, @fractelrunning, and @julboeyewearna, and I wouldn’t be prepared without @uphill_athlete, @runtellyrun, and @jennyjoyes. You can follow along with the race through the @mountainoutpost live coverage on YouTube starting at 9am PT on Friday. Thank you all for the support! 🙏
