Some scenes from @gaybowltwincities - of which I served as Director of the event. Gay Bowl XXVI has been over 2 years in the making. Thousands of hours that my team spent planning, fundraising, coordinating, marketing, and collaborating came to fruition this past weekend, and the event was a smashing success. 2000+ athletes, referees, volunteers, and attendees joining together - LGBTQ+ community and Allies alike. 24 fields 254 games 104 teams from over 25 US + Canadian cities 4 nights of events and 3 days of play It was an honor to collaborate with and be supported by the @vikings, @ngffl, @nscsports, our sports medics from @nwhsuclinics, nearly 100 volunteers, two LiveNation venues @uptowntheatermn @fillmorempls, the City of Minneapolis, and even our Governor! Over two years we fundraised nearly $120k to pull this off, almost all of it from MN based orgs + small donors, during a time where corporate giving to inclusive causes is down 62%. The weather was perfect, the tournament ran smoothly with beautiful playing fields, and we had an awesome vendor village setup with food trucks, a beer tent, and photo activations that allowed for camaraderie and connection. Our opening party featured members from the Minnesota Vikings org, and a message from Gov. Walz. Minnesota “set the gold standard” for volunteering according to our national board - we had dozens of friendly faces greeting athletes, directing traffic, refilling water jugs, setting up and tearing down, and running supplies. I’m so proud of the journey this has been, but even more proud of my team(s), my league (@mngffl), and my city. Gay Bowl is a special atmosphere that brings inclusion and sport into one place every year, and it was such an honor to bring it to life and bring so many folks into that atmosphere for the first time. Going to have a 9-12 month rehab souvenir as I recover from the torn Achilles I suffered while playing, but hopefully it allows me to reflect even more on how amazing of a journey this has been. 😌 There are too many people to thank for all the support and encouragement. Just know my heart is full and I am grateful. 🫶 📸 @larrybarthel @angiebanksphotography by @gabepatil

I love this sport. I love this league. I love these people. The @minnesotalumberjocks are your GayBowl XXV Champions 🏆 As a captain I have always preached 5 things: • Do Your Job • Be a Teammate • Cut Off Your Eyelids • Play with Gratitude • BELIEVE It was not an easy path. 8 games in 3 days is grueling. Going down 14-0 early in the championship game could have unraveled us. But we stuck together, we dialed in through adversity, we did our jobs, and we believed in each other. We came through on the other side champions. I’m so humbled to share in this win with these amazing group of players. I’m so proud of the @mngffl in how they represent Minnesota. I’m so grateful for the @ngffl giving a place and a platform for ALL kinds of athletes to be who they are and play in community. What an incredible @gaybowlsandiego! 🌴☀️🌊 Can’t WAIT for @gaybowltwincities next year! 🌾🏙️⛵️ by @gabepatil

🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 The Minnesota Lumberjocks are your 2025 @pride_bowl C Champs! Captaining this group has been such a joy. I am so proud of the team we built not just for how we performed but how we always play and lift eachother up together. Even after a shaky pool play day netted us the 7 seed in the elim bracket, we fought hard and never gave up on eachother. We scrapped our way to a string of underdog victories by trusting and believing in our strength as a team. That spirit and culture comes from the @mngffl and all the amazing people who make the league what it is. So proud of our amazing teams @minnhotdish and @minnesotalumberjocks that represent our vibrant and community focused league at every tourney. So proud to bring a trophy back to MN. 🏆 Love you Jocks forever! ❤️ CHOP CHOP 🪓 by @gabepatil

This @gaybowlaustin had some incredible highlights, both on and off the field. So happy with how our teams showed up, and that goes for our football teams, our (winning!) 2026 bid team, and our entire Minnesota @mngffl team of amazing folks that keeps growing in size and in community with each passing year. Love this game and love these amazing people. ❤️🪓🏈 #ChopChop #BringYaAss #YouBetchaYouBelong #GaybowlTC2026 by @gabepatil
