On World Book Day, we celebrate NANAY MAGSASAKA by Marites N. Nicart, likely the first book of poetry produced by a peasant woman in the history of Philippine literature. The book was created in the context of Lupang Ramos farmers’ struggle to defend their land and homes. The poems are about family members, leaders, allies and kasamas; they document the farmer’s everyday life, work, and commitment to the struggle to attain a genuinely just and peaceful life for all. by @gantalapress
❤️✊🏾🌾 by @gantalapress

#FreeAllPoliticalPrisoners by @gantalapress

On October 3, @balikbayan.nl & @mayasolidarity hosted a discussion about a long list of imperialist agenda on the Philippines including Marcos’ “green” projects and Pax Silica/Luzon Economic Corridor, and how peasant women push back against these development aggression projects as they advance and call for national sovereignty and genuine land reform. The Netherlands and other EU nations are identified as major proponents of Pax Silica and destructive AI technologies & structures. The discussion was held at @kioskrotterdam in commemoration of Peasant Month and in celebration of @amihan.peasantwomen’s 40th anniversary 💚🌾✊🏾 No to Pax Silica! Defend Peasant Women! by @gantalapress
On September 30, @zigzagreadingroom hosted Gantala Press in a discussion on bookmaking with peasant women, indigenous women, and activists as the Filipino people resist imperialism and development aggression projects such as Pax Silica, of which EU countries are a part. The parallelisms between Gaza and Marawi Siege, which Israel supported, were discussed. Exchanged publications and met new friends from the collective @stickyricemagazine and other artists from Palestine, Syria, Egypt, India, Indonesia, China, The Philippines & Belgium. It was a truly productive & meaningful experience of international solidarity. Artists of the World, Unite! No to Pax Silica! Boycott Frankfurt Book Fair! Free Palestine! 🇵🇸 Some photos from Nash & Sinta by @gantalapress
