“If you’re going to bet on a founder, bet on me. I’m insane.” This quote from @garrett.menichini sums up something I’ve noticed among many entrepreneurs who have built incredible things. They have a delusional level of belief in that which they are building, even before the evidence is seen. If you don’t believe in it, it’ll never happen. So believe and earn it. No limits. #entrepreneurship #relentless by @garrett.menichini
First Ironman ✅ Ironman Texas ranks in the top 3 experiences of my life. 9 months of intense training/suffering was invested into this process. 10 months ago I had absolutely no experience as a runner. No experience as a cyclist. And, no experience as a swimmer. First & foremost: THANK YOU to my coach @brainsandbrawncoach The Ironman tested me harder than anything I’ve ever experienced, but I was fully prepared thanks to him. I never once thought about quitting. I knew I could trust his training. We did it, coach! Thank you to @natashavdm81 & the NVDM community that she’s built. It’s truly special. This team has taken my overly-ambitious goal of completing an Ironman (in less than 9 months) and fully supported me every step of the way. I’ve made many new friends who are pure-blooded psychos just like me ( @tagsyoo & @andrew_warnica ) addicted to this sport & the process of getting better. Thank you to my PT @vagabond_running_physio who has SAVED my butt countless times from pushing myself way too hard, rushing the training timeline, sustaining injuries, and always getting me back into training. Thank you for keeping me healthy! You’re a wizard!!! This race was BRUTAL. I have a lot of anxiety about open water swimming.. thousands of other swimmers.. fighting for space; but I actually felt ready this time. The swim went according to plan until about 2/3’rds through when my left calf, left hamstring and left hip flexor all simultaneously cramped HARD. I barely made it to a lifeguard & held onto his kayak for approx. 10 min. struggling to get my leg to release. A few hundred meters later I cramped bad a second time in the canal… & eventually finished that 2.4 mile swim. The bike was the most difficult/severe bike ride I have ever experienced. 20-30mph sustained headwinds + 30mph (sometimes 40mph gusts) made for a BEAT DOWN… but, I had fun! I stayed positive & I knew every mile was progress towards that finish line. The run revealed that I COOKED my legs fighting the wind too hard on the bike. At that point, the only goal was: finish. I never thought about the full 26.2 mile marathon. Just getting to the next mile. And I FINISHED ✅ Time to get back to work. by @garrett.menichini
First Ironman 70.3 ✅ This weekend in Galveston was my first 70.3 (half Ironman) and it was definitely a big learning experience as my longest race to date… and an important milestone with less than 3 weeks until the big race at Ironman Texas. Overall it was a very humbling and tough day. Lots of positive things happened in line with my race plan, and several frustrating negatives. This 70.3 was my first open water swim in the ocean, and it truly went better than I was anticipating. Open water swimming has been the toughest part of triathlon in my opinion. The fitness requirement is one thing, but the mental fortitude needed to deal with the risks of open water… and then battling hundreds/thousands of other swimmers has been a big (ongoing) lesson in staying calm during chaos. I got kicked, elbowed, bumped, swam over, shoved, cut off by other swimmers, and definitely swallowed salt water. Still not a fan of this part of the sport, but I’m learning to cope and weirdly this swim actually turned out to be fun after I found my rhythm amongst the chaos. The bike was a ton of fun (my favorite part of this sport) and went very well. I held back on the first half of the bike expecting to be hit with a strong headwind on second half… which never happened! A little disappointed because I was capable of riding faster, but a positive overall. The run started strong, and then completely fell apart by mile #2 when my lower back started spasming so bad that I couldn’t stand up straight or run properly. This is something I’ve never once experienced in training over the past 8 months. I tried as hard as I could to brute force it, but the pain of trying to run normally legitimately overwhelmed me. I was 99% ready to quit, but decided to let go of my plan/expectations and see if I could take the race just half a mile at a time. Finally found the finish line in six hours. Definitely disappointed that I didn’t perform as I hoped, and yet I’m feeling super excited to have finished that race and officially have my first 70.3 in the books! This sport is increasingly addictive. I’ll be back in Galveston next year ready for a big PR. Now it’s time to focus on Ironman Texas. by @garrett.menichini
First race (running) is in the books ✅ I’ve always hated … HATED running and, as a gym rat, I used to make fun of runners/endurance athletes growing up 😂 But as soon as started training for the Ironman… this sport absolutely humbled me… Eight months ago I couldn’t even run two miles (seriously)… 13:00/mi. pace was the best I could hope for. Mentally I’ve seen this half-marathon as “just a small milestone” as I build up to the Ironman in April – but I’m stopping to appreciate the crazy progress I’ve made in the last several months. What I did last weekend was physically impossible last summer. Going from 13:00/mi. (gasping for air before mile two)… now to 7:45/mi. for a half marathon blows my mind.
I owe a ton of gratitude to my coach: @brainsandbrawncoach and the @nvdmcoaching team for skyrocketing my progress far beyond where I would have been by training on my own.

Adjusting to this process was physically overwhelming at first. This group is made of true athletes and they work HARD 7 days a week. I’ve questioned how committed I really am to this process several times 😅 … but find myself each week wanting to train even harder as I continually gain more, and more, momentum. Now it’s time to get back to building as the clock runs out leading into April. 10 weeks until Ironman Texas 70.3, Galveston. 13 weeks until Ironman Texas. by @garrett.menichini
I failed my first triathlon. 24 hours later I took on another triathlon that was 2X the distance… and crossed the finish line.

I owe that victory to @nvdmcoaching , @brainsandbrawncoach , and @natashavdm81. They’ll defer and say it was my hard work… but the honest truth is it was because of them. Back at the beginning of June 2023 I started training for Ironman Texas (4/27/2024). This left me with just under a year to *attempt* to prepare for the hardest single-day sport in the world. A 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and a 26.2 mile run… over 12… 15… up to 17 hours long. The first 8 weeks of serious training (6-7 days/week) was brutal, challenging me with multiple injuries and an extraordinary beat down on my body. I set out to train for this solo, following some online resources and a pre-written online-only training plan… determined to let nothing stop me. Turns out… the triathlon community is pretty small. I guess not many people feel excited about exercising for two… three… four… or six hours daily in order to run a 140-mile race. I knew I was the idiot 🙃 climbing Mount Everest by signing up for an Ironman with literally zero triathlon experience… and zero endurance sport experience of any kind. In August I made the decision to invest more aggressively into this training process and joined NVDM, with @brainsandbrawncoach as my coach. Harold’s resume was absolutely ridiculous and I knew he was exactly the right coach to deal with a maniac like me. After 6 weeks with NVDM, my teammates successfully persuaded me to sign up for a Sprint Triathlon in Kerville at the end of September. Coach thought it would be a good learning experience and a valuable chance to practice transitioning (Swim to Bike … and Bike to Run). Day 1 of the Kerville Triathlon Festival was the Sprint Triathlon. 10 minutes into the race, I was kicked in the face, lost my goggles, nearly drowned, saved by a firefighter, and pulled out of the race for an official: “DNF.” I was terrified, and absolutely devastated. The rest of the story is absolutely nuts. Watch the pinned story about this on my profile to find out what happened. by @garrett.menichini

I shot this photo 9 months ago while @jneven showed us some of the most unique places in the Texas hill country. Little did I know that the Lord was going to bring @morgan_menichini and I to this city to call home. Stoked to start a new chapter in life with excellent friends and an awesome new community.
