I have been incredibly fortunate to be welcomed into the most amazing host family abroad. I can honestly say they are the kindest, most generous family I have ever met. It is heartbreaking and unfair that my host mom, Mar, has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Mar and Emilio live in Barcelona with their two children, Manuel and the infamous Kenta. Mar is an Arabic language teacher, and Emilio teaches at a vocational school. Their home is constantly filled with warmth, laughter, and love. With Mar unable to work, the family is under immense financial and emotional stress.

To show my deep appreciation for this family and support for Mar’s fight, I have decided to start this fundraiser so they can focus on her recovery and being together as a family.

To help raise awareness and support, my friend Hannah and I (and anyone else who would like to join) will also be running a marathon on Friday, March 13, in honor of Mar and her fight—and the fight of many others—against breast cancer. This fundraiser will conclude after the marathon.

Your support will help cover the costs of Mar’s treatments, surgeries, and medications, and will also provide much-needed relief from the stress and uncertainty they are experiencing. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference for Mar, Emilio, Manuel, and Kenta.

Thank you so much for your kindness and support. Please consider sharing this fundraiser to help spread the word and support this wonderful family as they face this challenge together.
