What a brilliant day yesterday. I don't know where to start! The weather was roasting, even at the 8:45am start! 🥵 Me and @emma_loves_to_run had already decided to run a slower pace before we started. It was hot and we wanted to enjoy it instead of running in pain. 1hr55 was perfect! Post race celebrations with the rest of the @best.athletics crew were brilliant and went on for a long time into the evening!! 💙🥳🤍 Back to it later, the new plan starts today for the @runthroughuk Regents Park 10k next month! . #brightonmarathon #manchestermarathon #brightonhalf #adizero #thebighalf #high5fuelled #brightonhalfmarathon #adidas #runningmotivation #fueledbyscience #temporunning #happyrunner #marathon #bighalf #forerunner965 #IMoveMe #intervals #runchat #ukrunner #garmin #scienceinsportofficial #runfit #iloverunning #adidasrunning #runhappy #runnersofinstagram #runeveryday #loverunning #hillsprints #runaddict by @gary_runs
This weeks long run on the plan was 22k. Me and @emma_loves_to_run had to split the long run over two days as we had booked this 10k race back in November! The race was never going to be run at a fast pace because (A) It was deload week and this weekend was supposed to be all at easy pace. (B) We had arranged a Saturday evening date night out some time ago and not remembering we had a race early the next morning! Plus the clocks going forward an hour!! Finished the race in 51:05 and ran it steady. I had to stop a couple of times to let the wine and food in my belly settle down! Overall, I'm well pleased with how the race went, all things considered! 🤍💙 Work hard - Play hard! 🥳 Thanks @best_race_series , @justalilbester and all the volunteers today for a great and well organised race . #brightonmarathon #manchestermarathon #brightonhalf #adizero #asics #high5fuelled #brightonhalfmarathon #adidas #runningmotivation #fueledbyscience #temporunning #happyrunner #marathon #bestathletics #forerunner965 #IMoveMe #intervals #runchat #ukrunner #garmin #scienceinsportofficial #runfit #iloverunning #adidasrunning #runhappy #runnersofinstagram #runeveryday #loverunning #hillsprints #runaddict by @gary_runs
One more week of this 10k plan to go. Next Saturday will be the 10k TT that me and @emma_loves_to_run have trained 9 weeks for. Yesterday was supposed to be 11k ez....BUT... the conditions were perfect we were feeling good so decided to give the sub50 attempt a go instead. The aim was to run each km slightly under 5 minutes, get the sub 50 and feel more confident about going all in for the time trial next week. Well pleased with the pace and spits but was a little shocked how hard I had to work for it! Running is do humbling at times. Now to cut back the distances this week and see what happens next week at Battersea Park ☺️ . . #adidas #adidasrunning #temporun #runnning #runner by @gary_runs
Wednesday's Tempo - Rollin 300's Its nearly race week and one more week of the plan to go! Last night me and @emma_loves_to_run kept the on's slightly quicker than on plan and the offs were considerably quicker, trying to join the dots as the coach says! So much better running on a floodlit track than trying to avoid death with only a headtorch from mad uber cyclist flying around the parks dressed in black with no lights with bikes like motorbikes! 🤬 . . #adidas ##adidasrunning #temporun #runnning #runner by @gary_runs
16km conversational pace on the plan for today. Instead of just running these type of runs completely ez, I like to make them more interesting but still ez. 16km broke up into 4 x progressive 4km blocks is so much better! Me and @emma_loves_to_run picked an undulating route to make it even more interesting. 116m of elevation 1:31:19 with an average heart rate of 125bpm 💙, got to be happy with that! Enjoy the rest of the weekend and don't forget the clocks going back later! ⏰️ . #run #adidas #easyrun #loverunning #adidasrunning by @gary_runs
Wednesday track session with @emma_loves_to_run K200'S, I like this session but I always feel im holding back slightly on the K's to be ready for the 200! The headwind along the back straight was like hitting a brickwall but pleased i ran quicker than the paces on plan, especially the 200m parts! Another quality session banked and now its only two weeks for the 10k time trial ive been training for. Have a decent Thursday all, we are nearly there! 😊 . #adidas ##adidasrunning #temporun #runnning #runner by @gary_runs
18k was on my plan for Saturday, I decided to blow that out and run 8k with @emma_loves_to_run instead. I'm feeling good and didn't think i needed an 18k run. I know i could of ran it but im concentrating on my speed and didn't want to add any unnecessary fatigue ahead of my Wednesday intervals and being so close now to my 10k race/time trial. Have a great week all and listen to your body's, always!. . #adidas ##adidasrunning #temporun #runnning #runner by @gary_runs
Track session last night. Week 6 of a nine week 10k speed up plan. Things are definitely going in the right direction and im very happy with the progress! I'm managing to hold paces again that i haven't been able to do for a couple of years. Everything has all been about marathon training and im now enjoying speeding the other distances up. Thanks @emma_loves_to_run for the photography📸 . #adidas #adizero #pro4 #running #trackrunning by @gary_runs
Like i said in previous posts I've gotslower! I'm now 4 weeks into a 9 week plan to speed up my neglected 10k time! Today's work out on the plan was a 5k time trial. I can't remember the last time I attempted to run a fast 5k, probably 18 months or more ago!! Constant distance running for marathon training has definitely slowed me down. I would of been more than happy this morning with anything just under the 25 minutes, So to finish in 24:05 was amazing! The plan so far is definitely working! I know its not a ridiculously fast time to others but to me it has definitely cheered me up where my speed is concerned.☺️ Keep turning up and working hard and you can get what you want. Have a great weekend all! 😎 Thanks to @emma_loves_to_run for taking the pictures on her rest day 📸 . #running #temporun #loverunning #5k #adidasrunning by @gary_runs
Week 3 of the 10k improvement plan completed this morning with @emma_loves_to_run 15km with the first 3.5km at Conversational pace and getting Progressively quicker with a slower 3k section in the middle. After a fast 10 miler on the bike only 36 hours ago my legs were surpringly ok! Weather was perfect and managed to nail the required paces. Have a great weekend all and good luck to all you lucky runners running the Berlin Marathon in the morning! 🇩🇪 . . #runninginthesun #runaddict #loverunning #runningismytherapy #adidasrunning by @gary_runs
The Wednesday Tempo session with @emma_loves_to_run Still working hard to get my fitness back and last night I finally felt like I'm getting there, BUT their is still loads of hard graft to be done! Well pleased with the Adizero Pro5's, I loved the 4's and the 5's have have been given a few tweeks and are definitely improved. . . #running #intervals #loverunning #tempo #adidas by @gary_runs
Tonight was week 2 of a nine week plan to speed up the 10k time. For the ladt 6 months I seemed to have slowed down over the 10k distance so me and @emma_loves_to_run have started a new plan. Nothing too fast, just aiming to run a 10k in 48 minutes again, its been too long! . #runningcommunity #runhappy #runchat #runninglife #runningismytherapy by @gary_runs
