Another image from that beautiful morning by the lake last week in Killarney. After spending some hours there over the course of a few days. I was just about to leave when the light was getting too harsh. In the woodland in front of me I could hear a stag bellow. Decided to sit it out for another bit when this happened. Got lucky! How bloody cute to watch this little fawn leaping through the water 😍

Swallows are estimated to eat up 850 insects a day. Their agile, darting flight allows them to feed continuously in summer, making them highly effective natural controllers of flying insect populations.

Perched on a branch, this young swallow waits expectantly for the return of its parent carrying food. As the parent draws near, its calls grow louder in anticipation of its next meal. These frequent feeding trips are essential, helping the juvenile grow strong enough to soon take to the skies itself.

Well yesterday was a day I won’t forget for a long time. I was asked recently what was one of my best wildlife moments. Up until yesterday it was getting to spend about ten uninterrupted minutes with an Irish stoat, but getting to witness this yesterday on my doorstep definitely is up there. After many trips with @kiwigirlmullaghmore and great sightings I had only ever got to see a breach once but it was way in the distance!
Yesterday I had just changed onto a smaller lens (typical) when this happened! It’s not the sharpest or cleanest photo I’ve ever taken but how and ever I’m absolutely stoked to have witnessed HBIRL 102 take to the sky on Donegal Bay. What a day! Big shout out to Declan @kiwigirlmullaghmore and @matt_mc_keown for their great work.
