Oh what’s that? Just a cover reveal and some sneak peaks at the interiors of a dream project 🥹 ‘Size Up! How Baby Animals Grow’ is a non-fiction children’s book about different kinds of animal babies from all over the world and the variety of ways they grow up. Written by John Townsend, illustrated by myself, and published by @hachettechildrens, this lovely lovely book will be out in April next year, but is already available to pre-order 🌿 What an absolute DELIGHT this project has been for the last year or so. My first big book project, and my first project working with @the_bright_agency, I feel so lucky to have been able to work on a book that I think little me would have absolutely loved 🐘🐊🐅🐋🦜🐠🦎 John has written a really wonderful book and I can’t wait for you to read it! Thank you so much to the team at @hachettechildrens, especially designer @klemm.design who has been an absolute diamond and helped me learn so much, I can’t wait for you to see more of her wonderful work in this book! And thank you to my wonderful agency, especially @amyfitz_bright and @emilymary_books 🌷 #bookillustration#childrensbooks#kidlit#animalillustration#nonfiction by @gee.holland
We took advantage of the nice weather today to take some pretty pictures of my newest print, which is at last available on my sh🌀p! Thank you @harryjohnclarke for helping me take photos, as always 🌿 #autumnillustration#wildlifeillustration#kidlitart#childrensbookillustration#ukillustrator by @gee.holland
A little whale and her big family 🫍🌊 from a story I’ve been working on recently. It’s been fun trying to work out how to implement story-bits into the visual language of the project! #illustration#picturebookart#kidlitillustration#procreate#childrensbookillustration by @gee.holland
A few more ponies for your Sunday evening 🌾✨ #illustration#digitalillustration#animalart#kidlitillustration#equineart @brightagencypublishing by @gee.holland
Coloured a few of those horsey sketches from the other day! 🐎 Manifesting a future project where I get to draw a bunch of these guys 🙌 #illustration#kidlitartist#equineart#childrensbookillustrator#animalillustration by @gee.holland
I unfortunately will not be touching Peachtober with a ten foot pole this year (although happily, that’s just because I’m busy making books!) but seeing the fun begin got me thinking about one of my favourites from last year, and I thought I’d share it again for anyone new around here! I called this one A Song for Her Sisters, and I often think about this character and what she might be getting up to 🦭🌊🌀 Good luck to everyone participating in an October art challenge! #illustration#kidlitart#childrensbookillustrator#selkie#folktales @the_bright_agency @brightagencypublishing by @gee.holland
Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by my table, had a chat or bought something from me on Saturday at @localmakersmarket! It was such a lovely day, and markets always remind me how much I love making work to share with others and engage folk in illustration and nature. My next market is another Local Makers Market at The Forum in Norwich on the 10th of October and I’m really looking forward to it! Thank you to lovely Rosie for always hosting such a fun event 🥳🌀 And also thank you to @vallgrenphotography for documenting the market so beautifully! #illustrator#ukillustrator#kidlit#kidlitillustration#artmarket by @gee.holland
Happy Autumn one and all! I’m so happy my favourite time of year is officially upon us, I made stew to celebrate 🍂🌲🌙🍄 And of course autumnal colour palettes and themes are some of my favourite to work in as well, so I had to make a new print to welcome in the season! These will be coming with me to @localmakersmarket THIS SATURDAY at The Shoe Factory in Norwich, come along and say hi! Do you have any rituals for welcoming Autumn? #autumnillustration#procreate#kidlitillustration#natureillustration#childrensbookillustrator by @gee.holland

02. FAR AWAY 🌥️ An albatross resting after a very long journey 🌊 Did you know that albatross, with the largest wingspan of any living bird, can soar for thousands of miles and spend years at sea without going to land? Day 2 for Animal Adventures Week! Thanks to the hosts: @emmamartschminke @thejal_paints @bykatiemai @raahatkaduji @emily_ttch #kidlitillustration#kidlit#animalillustration#gouache#gouachepainting by @gee.holland
01. DISCOVERED 🦴🌲 I’m so excited to finally be participating in #animaladventuresweek ! I’ve always wanted to but the timing has never quite worked out for me. This week I’m really hoping I’ll be able to keep up! I’m taking it as an opportunity to practice my gouache painting, so please bear with me 😩🫶 Thanks so much to the hosts! 🌀 @emmamartschinke @thejal_paints @bykatiemai @raahatkaduji @emily_ttch #animaladventuresweek2026#kidlitart#childrensbookillustration#gouacheillustration by @gee.holland
Was delighted to see an oyster catcher the other day and it reminded me of this portfolio piece I made a little while back. This one was really inspired by a trip we took to North Berwick and the @seabirdcentre there! Such a gorgeous spot 🌊 I’d looove to work on a project about birds, especially seabirds, one day! #illustration#animalillustration#seabirds#kidlitart#bookillustration by @gee.holland
