Some whale encounters you watch. Others feel like the whale chooses you. πŸ‹πŸ’™ This incredible humpback circled our boat, stayed beneath the catamaran enjoying the shade, then slowly moved around us β€” pausing, rolling sideways and deliberately turning its eye towards us. Eye contact with a humpback whale. Not for a second. Again and again. You can book a whale-watching trip, but you can’t book a moment like this. The whale decides whether it wants to stay, investigate and interact β€” and this one clearly wasn’t in a hurry to leave. One of those mesmerising encounters that will stay with us for a very long time. Closer… and then even closer. πŸ‹πŸ’™ There are whale encounters… and then there are moments like this. A magnificent humpback choosing to cruise right alongside the boat, giving everyone onboard a perspective you simply can’t appreciate until you see the sheer scale of these animals from above. Captured in Hervey Bay with Blue Dolphin Tours β€” where sometimes the whales decide just how close the experience gets. Queensland whale season is absolutely firing right now. πŸ”₯πŸ‹ #HerveyBayWhales #HumpbackWhale #WhaleWatching #QueenslandAustralia #DronePhotography .... by @geoffaquino
Ever wondered what dolphins look like from above? 🐬🌊 Pure freedom in crystal-clear Australian waters. Watching these incredible animals glide effortlessly through the ocean is something I never get tired of. No tricks, no staging β€” just nature doing what it does best. Wait for the moment it rolls through the water! πŸŽ₯ Aerial wildlife cinematography by @geoffaquino | @thedroneguynetwork πŸ“ Queensland, Australia Follow @geoffaquino for incredible Australian wildlife, coastal adventures and breathtaking drone footage. Some encounters stay with you long after you leave the ocean. πŸ‹ Just off Hervey Bay, we witnessed something extraordinary aboard Blue Dolphin Cruises. Humpback whales swimming incredibly close to the catamaran, with one even gliding directly underneath us. Seeing these gentle giants from above gives you a completely different perspective on their size, beauty and curiosity. No matter how many times I experience this, it never gets old. A truly unforgettable encounter in the waters of Hervey Bay, Queensland. Would you stay calm with a humpback whale swimming right underneath your boat? πŸŽ₯ @geoffaquino β›΅ Blue Dolphin Cruises | Hervey Bay #HerveyBay #HumpbackWhales #WhaleWatching #QueenslandAustralia #DronePhotography by @geoffaquino
Some places are just too beautiful to share their location. 🌊 Hidden along the Sunshine Coast are stretches of coastline that still feel untouched. No crowds, no noise, just crystal-clear water, secluded beaches and nature doing what it does best. This is the side of the Sunshine Coast I love exploring and capturing from above. Do you know where this is? πŸ‘€ And if you do… can we keep it our little secret? 🀫 #SunshineCoast #QueenslandAustralia #HiddenBeaches #VisitQueensland #DronePhotography by @geoffaquino

With whale season officially over, it's time to get back to exploring some of the incredible places I've been wanting to revisit. And this is exactly why I love what I do. Some people call it work. I call it my office. Welcome to Wathumba Creek, tucked away on the remote western side of K'gari (formerly Fraser Island). One of those places that reminds me just how lucky I am to call Queensland home. Not a bad office view, is it? 🌴🌊 #Kgari #FraserIsland #australia #thisisqueensland #queensland by @geoffaquino
Imagine launching 30 tonnes of pure muscle out of the ocean. πŸ‹ That's exactly what a humpback whale is capable of. What you're watching is one of nature's most extraordinary displays of raw power. A giant accelerating from beneath the surface, launching its enormous body into the air before crashing back into the ocean. But here's something most people don't know… Scientists still don't fully understand why humpback whales breach. Communication, attracting a mate, removing parasites or simply playing could all be part of the answer. And here's the fascinating bit: the sound of a whale landing can travel underwater for kilometres, potentially sending a message to other whales far beyond what we can see. After spending countless hours filming these magnificent animals along Queensland's coastline, moments like this still leave me speechless. Do you think they're communicating, showing off, or simply having the time of their lives? πŸŽ₯ @geoffaquino | Queensland, Australia #nature #wildlife #ocean #humpbackwhale #australia by @geoffaquino
Most people have climbed Mount Coolum. Very few have seen it like this. 🌧️ After heavy rain, something extraordinary happens. Water begins cascading down the ancient volcanic cliffs of Mount Coolum, creating temporary waterfalls that can disappear almost as quickly as they appear. I was lucky enough to capture this rare sight from above, right here on Queensland's Sunshine Coast. It's moments like these that remind me why I love exploring Queensland with a drone. Even the places we think we know can still surprise us. Have you ever seen Mount Coolum's waterfalls flowing? πŸŽ₯ @geoffaquino | @thedroneguynetwork #MountCoolum #SunshineCoast #Queensland #DronePhotography #VisitQueensland by @geoffaquino
We share this coastline with some pretty incredible neighbours. πŸ‹ A few of my favourite moments from whale watching season off Noosa. There’s something special about spotting that first splash, then waiting to see where they’ll come up next. Which moment would you have loved to see in person? #Noosa #WhaleWatching #HumpbackWhales #VisitNoosa #sunshinecoast by @geoffaquino
