The holidays are a time for connection—but they can also be difficult for those battling addiction. As we spend time together, let’s take small steps to have the conversation encourage your loved ones to share and make it safe for them: Be kind. Be mindful of triggers. Open your heart to listen without judgment. Remind that it’s okay. This December 30th, let’s end the year by making love, empathy, and healing the focus of our time together. Together, we can create a better space for everyone. 💚 #GetCareAfrica #SafeConversations #EndTheStigma #HolidaySupport #AddictionAwareness” “Share this post with someone you care about and start the conversation today.” If you’re trying to stop an addictive behavior (it could be scrolling too) has the holiday season been trigger for you? by @getcareafrica
Many people shy away from the topic of addiction, and we get it — it’s sensitive and heavy. But this is often because it’s not talked about properly and is seen through the wrong lens. Our goal is to start a conversation, get people talking, and encourage Africans to raise awareness while creating easy access to addiction help and care. Addiction has deeply infiltrated our cultural systems, affecting and devouring almost everything in its path. But we can reverse this if we work together, speak up more, stop shying away from the problem, and involve existing bodies and resources. Together, we can find a solution.
