My trip to Tennessee was a huge success.
I got to recharge my nature battery and finally check off some hikes that have been on my list for years. Alum Cave Trail is a must!
Traveling is one of the many ways I recharge, but there’s something special about hiking, being out in nature, disconnecting, and just enjoying the moment.

Already wondering,
what trip is next? by @getfitzel

Part 2 of my pull-up series. Once you feel comfortable hanging on the bar for a minute plus, I think the next step is learning to retract your scapula. I got a few different ways you can try them out depending on your current level.

If you’re someone who never feels their lats when doing vertical pulling work, this is a great movement to throw in before your pull-ups and pull-downs.

I do mine a little exaggerated and really pull myself back, and when I do actual pull-ups I don’t actually pull back that far. This is more so about just trying to learn to squeeze and set your lats before you start pulling with your arms on pull-ups and pulldowns.

If you need more tips DM me 💪

Feel free to test these out during our extended open gyms every Saturday @getfitzel by @getfitzel

Part 3 of my pull-up series: train every aspect of the pull-up. Power, strength and hypertrophy. Either In that order on the same day, or spread out throughout the week.

I skipped out on power work for years. But, finally adding in power in has helped me pull higher with more weight, and been one of the big keys towards learning muscle-ups.

Forgot to mention it in the video, but test these out with different grips and widths as well, overhand, underhand and neutral.

What else are you struggling with on pull-ups? by @getfitzel

Vulnerability post:

I’ve had a bit of a “fall off” with my fat-loss journey.
I got down to 195 lbs, then went on vacation and, honestly, it stalled my progress. Part of me felt guilty because I didn’t follow through on what I told myself I was going to do.

But I’m back on track, this time with a little more balance.

I have a tendency to overdo things. Work, training, family life… I give a lot to all of them. I still train hard and stay consistent with my workouts, but where I tend to overdo it is with food. I love to go out and try new foods.
I’m still down from the 218 lbs I was at in April, but I’m currently sitting around 200 lbs.

So this is a reminder to myself that progress isn’t always linear. The goal isn’t perfection, it’s finding a way to make this sustainable while still enjoying life.

Back to work.

I’ve been a little MIA on content lately because I’ve been busy enjoying the summer.
I’ve been spending time with friends, family, and clients, making the most of every chance to get outside. Chicago summers are short, so you have to take advantage of them while they’re here.
Here are a few snapshots from the last couple of months.
Hope you guys are having a blast this summer.
