3 menopause myths every woman needs to know:

Myth 1: Weight gain in menopause is inevitable.
The truth? Hormonal and metabolic changes can absolutely make weight management more challenging, but that doesn’t mean it’s hopeless. Declining estrogen, increasing insulin resistance, changes in cortisol, and a slowing metabolism all play a role. The key is understanding that your body may need a different approach than what worked in your 30s and 40s.

Myth 2: Fatigue, brain fog, and mood swings are just part of getting older.
Not necessarily. These symptoms are often linked to hormonal changes that affect brain chemistry, energy production, and stress response. Feeling exhausted, irritable, forgetful, or unable to focus isn’t something women should simply accept as “normal aging.”

Myth 3: Hormone replacement therapy is dangerous and only for hot flashes.
Many women are surprised to learn that today’s understanding of hormone therapy is very different from what they may have heard decades ago. When personalized and properly monitored, hormone therapy may offer benefits that extend beyond symptom relief, including support for bone, cardiovascular, and cognitive health.

The bottom line: Menopause is a biological transition, not a decline. The more you understand what’s happening in your body, the better equipped you are to advocate for your health and find the support you need.

Comment “MYTH” and I’ll send you the link to join Menrva Lounge: The Midlife Mastery Weekly Workshop where we separate hormone myths from hormone facts and help you navigate midlife with confidence. 💛

For more than two decades, women have been told to fear estrogen therapy.

Now, after reviewing the evidence, the FDA has officially updated the messaging around one of the most misunderstood treatments in women’s health.

The reality? Estrogen isn’t just about managing symptoms. For many women, it plays a critical role in supporting heart health, brain health, bone density, and overall quality of life.
The problem is that many providers are still operating from information that was taught decades ago. That’s why it’s so important to stay informed and advocate for yourself when it comes to your health.

If you’ve been told estrogen therapy is “too risky,” this conversation is one you need to hear.

Follow me for more evidence-based insights on hormones, metabolism, and women’s health.

Your body has a built-in hormonal rhythm that’s designed to help you feel energized, focused, and resilient.

The problem is that most people unknowingly work against it every single morning.
If you’re tired of feeling tired, watch this.

The smallest shifts often create the biggest changes.

Menopause belly fat isn’t just about aging.

After menopause, inflammation rises, insulin resistance increases, and visceral fat becomes easier to store. One of the simplest ways to support all three? Fiber.

Most women need at least 25g per day, but the average American gets only about 8g.

Before buying another supplement, start with the basics: berries, beans, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. The foundation often matters more than the fancy stuff.

This clip is from my full interview for the @shealeddoc , where I share the journey that led me from a career in technology to becoming a women’s health researcher, nutritionist, and functional medicine practitioner.

What many people don’t know is that none of this was part of the plan.

It started when I was diagnosed with an autoimmune digestive disease and asked a physician a simple question:
“Could changing my diet change the trajectory of this condition?”

He laughed.

That moment changed the course of my life.
Over the last 20 years, I’ve dedicated my work to understanding the root causes of chronic illness, advancing women’s health research, and helping women find answers that too often get overlooked.

If there’s one thing I hope women take away from my story, it’s this: never stop asking questions. You know your body better than anyone else, and you deserve healthcare that treats you as a partner in the process.

If you’ve been blaming yourself for a lower sex drive, this is your reminder that desire is biology, not willpower.

During perimenopause and menopause, multiple systems that influence libido begin to shift at the same time, from hormones to neurotransmitters to your body’s stress response. And if you’re constantly overwhelmed, your nervous system may be working against you without you even realizing it.

The good news? You’re not broken, and this isn’t something you just have to accept.

As estrogen declines, women naturally lose muscle mass, energy efficiency, and even cognitive resilience. Which is why so many women suddenly feel weaker, foggier, and more exhausted in midlife even when they’re “doing everything right.”

Creatine helps support:
• muscle strength + retention
• cellular energy production
• hydration inside the muscle
• cognitive function + brain health

And the research behind it is actually incredibly strong.

The most studied form is creatine monohydrate and for many women, just 5g a day consistently can make a massive difference over time.

Follow for evidence-based strategies that actually support women in midlife.

For decades, women were told PCOS was primarily an ovarian condition.

Now, the medical community is officially acknowledging what many researchers have been saying for years: it’s much bigger than that.

This landmark change could impact how millions of women understand their symptoms, advocate for testing, and approach their long-term health.

If you’ve ever been told you have PCOS or suspect you might—this is information you need to know.

Have you heard about the name change yet?

Only 4% of medical research funding goes to women’s health… even though women make up 50% of the population.

For decades, women’s symptoms were dismissed, misdiagnosed, or labeled as “just stress” because so much of modern medicine was built around male bodies as the default.
The medications. The reference ranges. The research. The diagnostic standards.
And the scariest part? Most women have no idea.

This isn’t about blaming individual doctors. It’s about recognizing a system that was never fully designed with women in mind and learning how to advocate for yourself inside of it.

If you’ve ever felt dismissed, unheard, or told “everything looks normal” when you knew something was wrong… you are not imagining it.

Follow for more of the health information women should have had all along.

The term “wandering womb” was once an actual medical diagnosis. Doctors believed a woman’s uterus could literally move through her body and cause illness, and that belief shaped women’s healthcare for generations.

Women were dismissed, institutionalized, and subjected to invasive procedures simply for being seen as “too emotional” or “difficult.” And it wasn’t until 1993 that women were even required to be included in U.S. clinical research studies.

So if you’ve ever been told your labs are “normal” while something still feels off in your body, you’re not imagining it. You’re navigating a medical system that was never originally designed around female physiology.

Understanding this history is the first step to advocating for your health differently.
