Our first event was a success, and even with a little rain in the forecast, you showed up. We’re beyond grateful for everyone who came out. Our hope was simple: that each person would leave with at least one new connection or one real conversation. And honestly, that hope came to life. We didn’t just play kickball, we laughed, played other games, got ice cream, and most importantly, talked to people we didn’t know. We stepped out of our comfort zones, and that made all the difference. You came curious. You came open. And that’s exactly what this space is about. Cutting the small talk and getting to know people for real. We’ll be sharing info on our next event very soon. Stay tuned, and get excited. This is only the beginning 💛 #MinneapolisEvents #TwinCitiesSocial #MplsNights #MplsHangout #UptownMinneapolis #northeastminnepolis #MplsThingsToDo #ExploreMpls by @getsocial.hour
Somewhere along the way, we forgot how to approach people without overthinking it. Without the fear of being judged. We’ve gotten so used to surface-level conversations, and we’ve stopped giving ourselves permission to just show up exactly as we are. As people in our 20s, we’ve felt that distance deeply. That feeling of wanting community but not knowing where to find it. Wanting to say hi to someone new, but hesitating. And yet, human connection is one of the most natural things we’ve always known. It’s what we crave, what grounds us, and what helps us grow. We don’t just want to build events, we want to build a space that reminds people of the value of conversation. The kind where “how was your day?” actually means something. A space where people feel safe to be themselves, to let their guard down, and to realize their people are out there, they just needed the chance to meet them. We’ve created this because we believe in showing up. We believe in building each other up. And we believe that being human with one another is enough. #minneapolis #makingfriends #minnesota #getsocialhourmn by @getsocial.hour

2026 MINNESOTAN ARCHIVES 📍 🎥 PART FOUR Minnesotan here 👋🏻 It’s been a horrific moment to witness in history — all of the torment our city and local communities have undergone. My previous video in this 4-part series discussed the numerous ways you can begin to get involved. In this part, I would like to bring understanding to the unique perspectives we each have to offer in a collaborative future. I grew up on 90s country in rural NE Iowa. On a farm. Swimming in muddy rivers. Wandering forests. Checking cows with my uncle and dad. I’m a 6th-generation Irish immigrant. These are pieces of my history — and they shape me to this day. My life doesn’t look like that all the time anymore. But it has shaped who I am- entirely! We all carry backgrounds that made us who we are. And we all deserve to be seen in that fullness. So let’s figure out how we show up better — together. Care deeply. More than we ever have before. Especially about people who come from different backgrounds than us. Power to the people. We are responsible for how we move next — for the future we collectively shape. If you want to take action: • Invest time in learning what you don’t know • Connect with real human beings around you — it’s the most important thing you can do I promise the world is less scary when you let yourself understand it. I love you guys. I know we can do better. Let’s get to it. Our communities need us. Deeply. #iceout #minneapolis #standtogether by @getsocial.hour
2026 MINNESOTAN ARCHIVES 📍 🎥 PART THREE Minnesotan here 👋🏻 It’s been a horrific moment to witness in history — all of the torment our city and local communities have undergone. My previous video in this 4-part series discussed the importance of truly caring about one another. This part focuses on channelling current discomfort into collaborative action. If you’re overwhelmed, this part is for you. You don’t need all the answers. But you are meant to care. Talk to people. This is the time to be imperfect. Attempt to understand what others are going through. Choose love over hate. Every time. We each carry a rich history that we’re rooted in — it’s what makes us beautiful. Differences aren’t something to fear. They’re something to learn from alongside each other. You can understand the world simply by knowing people who come from backgrounds different from yours. Learning about new cultures doesn’t take away from your own! 🌎 It’s one of the most beautiful ways we can exist together. My heart is with my people. I will do right by them. Please continue sending love and support, and please take action. Our communities depend on it. Stay tuned for part 4. #iceout #minneapolis #standtogether # by @getsocial.hour
2026 MINNESOTAN ARCHIVES 📍 🎥 PART TWO Minnesotan here 👋🏻 It’s been a horrific moment to witness in history — all of the torment our city and local communities have undergone. My previous video in this 4-part series discussed mutual aid and real stories from at-risk individuals. I would like us to bear witness to the magnitude of pain many are experiencing right now. I have seen more and more- workers being afraid to show up to their jobs, afraid of driving to their workplace. I’ve seen them mustering up the energy to make the impossible choice of weighing opportunity costs to right now. It forces a hard question: What are the principles of our freedom? What does America actually stand for? Things are bad here in Minnesota. Truly. The tragedies are impossible to ignore. And I need more people to realize this. I need more people to care, on a bigger level. I can’t say I’m proud of our government’s actions. But I am proud of neighbors pouring into one another. I am proud of communities protecting each other when no one else will. Please pay attention. What’s happening here matters. My heart is with my people. I will do right by them. Please continue sending love and support, and please take action. Our communities depend on it. Stay tuned for part 3. #iceout #minneapolis #standtogether by @getsocial.hour
2026 MINNESOTAN ARCHIVES 📍 🎥 PART ONE Minnesotan here 👋🏻 It’s been a horrific moment to witness in history — all of the torment our city and local communities have undergone. This 4-part video series is meant to educate and document a portion of the experience taking place. Part one is about my firsthand experience with mutual aid efforts- getting donations to at risk community members. This has all really weighed on me: multiple families hunkering down into a single home. Finding any creative way to keep themselves “safe.” During this time, we are experiencing the full range of humanity on display — grief, terror, exhaustion — whilst also being witness to connection, generosity, and hope. It’s important for me to document the real magnitude of what’s happening right now. There’s too much at stake. I’m seeing more and more people in pain- and it doesn’t sit right with me. These stories are important to give space to, and documenting what’s real right now is essential. My heart is with my people. I will do right by them. Please continue sending love and support, and please take action. Our communities depend on it. Stay tuned for part 2. ⸻ #iceout #minneapolis #standtogether by @getsocial.hour
We’ve got a fun and intimate get together planned 📚😊 Next Tuesday, Jan 20th 5:00-7:00pm Envision this: 10 people in a cafe sipping on their choice beverage - talking about what they value. Hopes and dreams shared, goals and to do lists mentioned. This is a beautiful opportunity to really pause and see each other. We can’t wait for you to be there. At GSH, we value tuning into ourselves and what we care about. Journaling is one of the many ways we love to pay attention to ourselves and our own desires. And let’s be honest… Who doesn’t trust someone who journals? We hope to see you at journal hours, where meaningful connections begin with a pen, a page, and presence. Bring your journal, your curiosity, and your authentic self. We will provide the space where thoughts become shared experiences and strangers become friends. by @getsocial.hour
