Exploring knit as a medium for fashion, lighting and living spaces
POSTS STORIES REELS
Thanks to everyone who participated in New Designers, my course mates, @brightontextiles @oliverbonas @dezeen @friendsandcouk for a FANTASTIC week! #newdesigners #newdesignerstips #tipsdesign #youngdesigners #graduate by @gfabradavies
Do I have to choose ONE? So it’s safe to say I’ve been busy…it’s hard sometimes to only choose one medium, when I find that I often feel the need to design EVERYTHING ALWAYS, ALL THE TIME. Anyway…come see some of it in @newdesigners starting the 1st of July! BIG massive shout out @clairedavies_insta for the joint expo and designs we did on the Stack lamps and Rugs 🌟 I loved every minute of it. #multidisciplinary #design #youngdesigners #newdesigner Copyright Gwen Fabra Davies by @gfabradavies
Taming the beast that is the Dubied knitting machine is always fun. #Knit #gradshow #knitting #studio by @gfabradavies
COME AND SEE ME! Sooo excited that @newdesigners is nearly here! 1st - 4th of July in the Business Design Centre…be there or be square. by @gfabradavies
Soft, protective and cocoon-like techniques that create a comforting garment that protects you from snowy blizzards. Lately, I’ve been fascinated by how knitted structures can hold soft, rounded shapes and forms. Inspired by pastoral snowy landscapes, this look explores knit as a gentle form of shelter. #barcelonadesign #diesñointeriores #madreehija by @gfabradavies
STILL obsessed with padded knit. What was interesting about this piece was that due to the technique, I had to design the coat completely in panelled squares and rectangles. It really gave some interesting design parameters, that although made me want to pull my hair out (a lot) it made the whole design process very…engaging? #knittersgonnaknit #designerwear #youngdesigner Copyright Gwen Fabra Davies by @gfabradavies
The last 6 months have been exhilarating and exhausting: It’s been a tremendous creative journey of frustration, satisfaction, strain and joy. I thought I’d share some moments into my world from last year studying fashion textiles. It would be wrong not too really. @brightontextiles #fashionstudents #textilestudent #pov by @gfabradavies
How to make knit look like snow? How do you even make this? Omg who would wear this? Where would even wear this? Answer: stuffed pockets. Carry on stuffing pockets. Cool people in the alps. In the alps. Another sneak peak at my Alpine Collection #gradshow #newdesigners #artfashion Copyright Gwen Fabra Davies by @gfabradavies
This exhibition was a deeply emotional moment for all of us, it represented the culmination of a years worth of dedication, process, creativity and curation. To have the opportunity to not only display, but present my work to others really made me realise how special a moment this was. So, as the grad show comes to an end I thought share some moments from the private view. If you missed it come and see us in Islington at @newdesigners on the 1st - 4th of July! #gradshow #textiles #exhibitiondesign #art by @gfabradavies
For the last 6 months I’ve been obsessed with creating padded knitwear. What inspired me most was how snow could be moulded into soft yet rigid shapes, this look began as an experimentation led by this idea. So excited to share more and more of my designs and pov.
