Learn how to make a Segmented Color Spiral in Adobe Illustrator Tutorial. Using a 500px circle with a stroke, we’ll apply a gradient with a hard edge 5 color blend. With the Appearance Panel set the width of the stroke and active Dashed Lines, setting the first dash to 280 pt and gap to 34 pt. Now we’ll use the Transform in FX and create the spiral effect. All to make a fully editable color spiral effect in Illustrator.

Make a Retro Flower Design this Adobe Illustrator Tutorial. In this step-by-step walk-through, start by making a square, turn it 45 degrees and delete the top node.
Go to Object - Transform - Reset Bounding Box and you’ll have a better time of compressing and stretching the shape to be more arrow pointed.
Using the Direct Select tool, select the top two nodes and drag them to round the top.
Go back to Object - Repeat - Radial and set it to have 8 shapes. These will be the petals of your retro flower.
Then select the Ellipse Tool and create a circle in the middle of your repeated pattern. Make sure there is enough overlap.
Select both shapes and go to Object - Group.
With the appearance panel open choose FX - Pathfinder - Add
Then select FX - Path - Offset Path, and set the offset to anything you like, and set Joins to Round. Keep in mind if the offset is too large, the effect won’t work.
Finally, FX - Path - Offset Path, and set it to the negative of the first offset, with Joins set to round as well.
This will round all the inside connected corners to the circle. You can now resize the circle and adjust all the elements, for a true retro flower in illustrator.
