It’s been a crazy couple of days performing with my guy @whosgadz at @karen_liddles show, This Is Your Round of Applause! For someone who never gets ill, I was fighting some horrific sickness bug the day before the show kicked off. But maaan, I haven’t danced my craft in front of an audience in over 8 years and in a mix of being completely frightened to step onto a stage again and being scared I never would never again, I thank my boy Nicco from the bottom of my heart for getting me through it… Huge thank you to Karen, Dulcie and everyone at KLSD, my incredible students who stood in the wings and cheered us on every night and all the amazing comments we had off audience members. My students smashed it every single night as well 🔥 As a teacher, you realise that you get so much happiness and pride through your students achievements and I’ve sure as hell realised this week that there’s definitely enough space to be proud of yourself too 🫡 Anyway… we put our routine together in 3 intense rehearsals but it isn’t ready for socials… yet 😉 by @gilparker_dance

Sometimes you meet students along the way that you just instantly know share the same love and passion for dance as you do. They’ll ask you extra questions about a certain step, they’ll come into class the week after and ask you if they can show you a trick they’ve taught themselves, they’ll just overall be so enthusiastic about everything you teach them. This is where Grace comes into it, I first met Grace in February 2017 during our “The Next Chapter” show when she came up to me backstage and said to me “I’m starting your class after this show.” Fast forward post show, here comes this 8 year old walking into my class in a handstand saying “look what I can do!” And then proceeds to show me a round off into a backflip. Fast forward to 2022, she joins my street crew “Lil Punkz” and becomes the big sister of the group in a crew of 17 kids winning 2 competitions that year. She represents the school in two UDO World Street Dance Championships in my senior crew “The KLique” in 2023 and 2025. Since then, she has helped me with choreography ideas, been such a support during competitions and her constant positivity has kept me and all of her dance friends upbeat during stressful rehearsals. Her dedication and commitment to dance is second to none. On Tuesday, I taught her for the final time… Grace has been my longest serving student in my whole career since I started teaching in 2016 but I’m so proud to wave her goodbye as she starts her first year at Emil Dale Academy. On a personal level, in the 13 years that I’ve been teaching dance, Grace is my first ever student to go to a dance college so although I’m sad that she’s leaving, I hope I can be proud knowing that I contributed and prepared her to some extent for the incredible heights she will undoubtedly hit in her dance career. I’m really glad that I was so lucky to teach Grace… Do not get me wrong, she could REALLY WIND ME UP at times 😂😂😂 but she will be the most energetic/brightest person in every room she walks into it and I’ll always be cheering her on as her teacher and friend! 🫡 @grace.alice1738 @kfm_79 @tim.martin.3998263 by @gilparker_dance
