@keakidsnews came down to our lesson last weekend with @beeflambnz at Birkenhead Skatepark to highlight the importance of having iron in your diet! 1 in 3 girls are low in iron, your body cannot produce its own iron which is why it’s important to fuel your body with the right food! ❤️ thank you so much @beeflambnz for helping us put down such an awesome event, and thank you Maddy for coming and hanging out with us! 💗💖💞

We had an awesome time at Ormiston Senior running a free lesson for the girls at lunchtime before we kick off our free Sunday lessons at Barry Curtis Skatepark just down the road🫶

The goal of this session was to facilitate a space where the girls can learn basic skateboarding skills where their friends are, in a space they’re comfortable in (school setting with peers) while removing some of the barriers that can prevent young wahine, particularly in this age range from getting involved, such as access to equipment, time, confidence and knowing where to start.

By running the sessions at school, we can remove those barriers, build confidence, and encourage more girls to give it a go in a supportive environment with their friends, sparking an interest in skateboarding which can then lead into our Barry Curtis sessions at the skatepark 🫶☀️

A huge thank you to Ormiston Senior College for having us, and Sport Auckland for funding this opportunity for the girls 🤸🥰

If you’ve managed to get the basics down, here’s some things you can try the next time you’re at a skatepark or near a quarter pipe! 💌 ft @vert_skate_yeva by @girlsskatenz
