Fix Your Hearts Or Die! is my tribute to the legendary David Lynch, and his go-to composer Angelo Badalamenti, which I created earlier this year for the Noiseuary show.

Memories in Static is the outcome of a really long creative journey.
I spent the later part of 2015 at the HEIMA Artist Residency in Seyðisfjörður, Iceland. It was time of profound inspiration in terms of listening, and also a massive challenge to my ways of creating. I returned home with a hard drive full of sound objects, compositional sketches… things I had no idea how to finish.
Life gets in the way and things change.
In 2017 I did an Honours year in Fine Art. I had begun playing with modular synths and generative patches, and eventually a combination of technologies that I could use to improvise with these sounds. Each time I revisited these sound memories, things changed. I began likening this to the dangers of time travel, every time I revisited the past, I’d change something in the present.
Memories are weird. Remembering something is actually redrawing the neural pathways in the brain, and the more one dwells on a memory, the more the memory changes and distorts.
I couldn’t tell you honestly what this music was supposed to be like when it began.
In October 2018 I returned to Iceland to perform a series of small concerts and reconnect the work with its place of origin. Reconnecting with the landscape and mood of this place, things finally made sense. It has now been a year, sitting with this and figuring out where/how to release it into the world.
I’d like to think that all this time and all this work has resulted in something much bigger than this little album. I’d like to think of the work here as an entry point to a chaotic process of listening possibilities. This has in a way freed me from the standard musical/compositional need to reproduce this work live, instead, being able to share it more as one would share a story from their past, allowing it to grow and change and re-contextualise with each retelling. Most of all, I want it out in the world, and the timing feels right. by @glasfrosch_justin

Coming in April, a new ambient styled work, for vibraphone and other percussion, fender Rhodes and modular synth. Absinthe features Nat Grant @natgrantmusic and Adam Rudegeair @neonbogart alongside myself.

I made this new ambient piano piece for the new AEMC communal music compilation.

Everyone submits 2 sounds then makes a track only using sounds from the communal sample library.

I recorded the piano loop quite a while ago, on the tempo rubato baby grand. Here that loop is processed via a bunch of eurorack as the foundation of the piece. Then i added a bunch of other stuff in a similar way to give it shape.

I was at the skatepark, thinking about life and the woes of the world and watching the evening mist roll in over the Yarra. I was listening back to the track while i rolled around...

Big shout out to Adam Dempsey for doing the master.

I got to spend the day with noise legend Rod Cooper at the Australia Institute of Noise, playing with this mad instrument, the Flux Organ. Working on something fun. It sounds so good and the controls are weird. It’s kind of a synth, but it’s kinda not. by @glasfrosch_justin

My best boy being his best lazy casual self, just flopping around and keeping watch. Love this little fella so much. by @glasfrosch_justin

Alright.
I don’t really post skate clips. I started doing this in March and already had a bad injury since then, but I am loving skateboard life. I did this a bunch of times and probably faster but this was the one I got someone to film so here it is. 47 years old and loving life. Been a big couple days on the board. by @glasfrosch_justin

Big thanks to all the sweet legends who came to see us at Merri Creek Tavern for Dimensions Of Incomprehensibilities last night. Big love to @vicmeertens for the collaboration and to @david.palliser and Clinton Green @shamefilemusic for making it happen. And to all the other performers. I love you. by @glasfrosch_justin

Massive thanks to all the crew who put on @makeitupclub and continue to support/facilitate space for experimentation and collaboration. To @sbhpercussion for making me sound good, and to everyone who turned up to listen. Big love! by @glasfrosch_justin

Playing with my good old mate @sbhpercussion at @makeitupclub this Tuesday. The last time we did this duo it was so good. I'm super keen to present this collaboration again. See you there. by @glasfrosch_justin
