Allow us to reintroduce ourselves!

We are proud to officially carry the name of James M. Winford National Center for Asphalt Technology at Auburn University, honoring a legacy that has helped shape our center and the asphalt pavement industry for decades.

Made possible through a generous gift from the Winford family, the naming recognizes their longstanding support of NCAT, Auburn University and the industry we are proud to call home.

Our commitment to advancing asphalt pavement research, innovation and education remains as strong as ever. We look forward to continuing to serve the industry and the people who have been part of our story since 1986.

Join us in celebrating this new chapter and our 40th anniversary, and learn more about the legacy behind our new name at the link in our bio.

Stay tuned throughout the week as we share highlights from the dedication ceremony and look back at the people and milestones that have shaped NCAT’s history! by @goasphalt

Thank you to Reps. Luz Rivas (CA-29) and Derek Tran (CA-45) for visiting Vulcan Materials asphalt plants! It was great to highlight for Rep. Rivas the essential work supporting the San Fernando Valley and for Rep. Tran the work strengthening Orange County’s infrastructure.

NAPA greatly appreciates their engagement with our industry and support for the workers and businesses delivering safer, stronger roads in their communities and across the country. by @goasphalt

Sen. Susan Collins visited All States Materials Group in Limerick, Maine, to see firsthand how local businesses build and maintain the state’s roads and discuss advancing a highway bill reauthorization and permitting reform.

“We’re grateful Sen. Collins took the time just one week before Election Day to see the important work All States Materials Group is doing for Mainers,” said Nile Elam, NAPA’s Vice President of Government Affairs. “She has long been an ally in advancing strong infrastructure policy and funding."

Her visit helped NAPA reach 50 congressional plant tours this year—a milestone made possible by members opening their doors and showing policymakers how federal policy supports their work.

"Visits to asphalt plants like this connect those efforts in Washington with the employees and businesses delivering safer, stronger roads back home,” Elam said.

Season 11 of Pave It Black wraps with a look ahead: what will asphalt look like in 50 years?

Audrey Copeland, President and CEO of NAPA, and Adam Harshman, Executive Vice President of FleetWatcher by AlignOps, join us for the finale. Together they unpack how the asphalt pavement industry has changed technically and culturally over the past decade, including:

🔹 Sustainability becoming a formal engineering discipline
🔹 Live visibility changing how contractors manage fleets, plants and job sites
🔹 AI supporting knowledge transfer and decision-making

“It’s not just about how do we get bigger and more profitable … We have to make an impact that’s bigger than just the road that we’re laying.” – Adam Harshman

What does the future of asphalt look like? For the Season 11 finale, we sit down with NAPA CEO & President Audrey Copeland and FleetWatcher's EVP Adam Harshman to discuss what excites them about the next 50 years.

What does it really mean to take care of your people on the job? For Coral Todd of Duval Asphalt, the answer starts with stewardship. Most of us don't own the companies we work for. We're caring for someone else's vision, and that includes the project, the people, the equipment and the science behind the work. Tune in wherever you get your #podcasts 🎧 by @goasphalt

Auburn University's Jeff LaMondia joins this episode of Pave It Black to unpack the behavioral research behind infrastructure investment decisions, from shifting commute patterns and remote work to the rise of "bleisure" travel and its effect on our interstate system. He also shares how his work on resilience planning, covering work zone impacts and airfield pavement, is helping agencies prepare for extreme weather and sea level rise long before the next disruption hits.

NAPA members took to Capitol Hill for a full day of meetings with congressional offices, advocating for the asphalt pavement industry.

As NAPA President & CEO Audrey Copeland reminded attendees before they headed to their meetings: “Impactful advocacy requires persistence. It requires telling our story over and over, and continuing to build relationships with our elected officials.”

Our members along with @nssga and @nrmca_official did exactly that—sharing the real-world impact of a long-term surface transportation bill on their communities, businesses, and workers. by @goasphalt
