EMETIC | OPENING SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 22

A second studio visit with Scott Eastwood @scootzzzzz (thankfully just a short walk away in Echo Park) offered another chance to spend time with his irreverent, exuberantly colorful sculptural work.

Occupying a space between painting, sculpture, and relief, Scott’s irregular, heavily textured forms layer bold patterns, fragmented language, and an idiosyncratic vocabulary of symbols drawn from popular culture, counterculture, and the everyday.

These works have a compelling energy, where seemingly spontaneous gestures and rough-hewn surfaces give way to surprisingly deliberate compositions. At once humorous and disquieting, familiar and strange, the sculptures possess a visceral physicality that invites closer inspection while resisting easy interpretation.

Goat is thrilled to present Scott’s work alongside Jacobine van der Meer @jacobinevandermeer in an upcoming two-person exhibition, EMETIC.

The title, EMETIC, suggested by Scott, refers to something that induces vomiting or purging. The title speaks to the colorful yet somewhat unsettling sensibilities both artists share, suggesting expulsion as a form of release, transformation, and even renewal.

We look forward to bringing these two distinctive practices into conversation at Goat.

Spiraling? You’re not alone.

Alice Lang’s I Am Seriously at My Limit captures the sentiment in a dizzying spiral of text, meticulously constructed from hand-marbled fabrics and sewn into a quilted composition. A fitting reflection on the times and a reminder that there are still ways to make ourselves heard.

RAGER has been extended through November 8, the weekend after Tuesday, Novemeber 3.

Join us for a closing reception on Sunday, November 8. Time to be announced.

Until then, stay engaged. And vote.

SAVE THE DATE | SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 22
While we’re still reveling in RAGER, we’re also looking ahead to Goat’s next exhibition and are pleased to announce an upcoming two-person show featuring Jacobine van der Meer @jacobinevandermeer and Scott Eastwood @scootzzzzz opening Sunday, November 22.

A recent studio visit with Jacobine van der Meer offered a glimpse into her extraordinary world of drawings and sculpture. Meticulously rendered yet wonderfully unruly, her drawings conjure a strange and visceral universe in which human, animal, botanical, and imagined forms merge, mutate, and defy categorization.

There is a compelling tension between the exquisite precision of her technique and the wild, often unsettling nature of her imagery. At once seductive and grotesque, playful and psychologically charged, these hybrid figures seem to operate according to their own peculiar logic, inviting both fascination and unease.

We’re thrilled to be bringing Jacobine’s drawings and sculptural work to Goat alongside the work of Scott Eastwood.
More details, including the exhibition title, coming soon.

A glimpse at RAGER: Alice Lang
@alicemlang

For RAGER, Australian-born, Yucca Valley-based artist Alice Lang presents Fuck Field and Fuck Field 2 (2026), two large-scale textile works that bring together the historical traditions of quilting and geometric abstraction with an irreverent exploration of rage.

Constructed through the labor-intensive process of sewing together strips of hand-marbled, dyed, and solid cotton, these improvisational quilts create mesmerizing, almost psychedelic fields of color and pattern. Along their borders, mirrored text repeats a single word—fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck—transforming an expletive into both a decorative motif and a persistent expression of frustration.

Lang’s practice examines how systems of power shape cultural and individual experience. By working with materials and techniques traditionally associated with craft and so-called feminine practices, she challenges established hierarchies between art and craft, while reclaiming these processes as vehicles for expression and resistance.

There is both humor and catharsis in these works. Lang describes the repeated expletive as eliciting a “stoner reaction to trippy patterns,” while the labor-intensive process of cutting, arranging, and stitching becomes a means of working through feelings of rage. The resulting compositions oscillate between visual pleasure and confrontation.

Come experience Alice Lang’s work, along with the rest of RAGER, at Goat.

A glimpse at RAGER: Macha Suzuki
@macha_suzuki_studio
@gtmacha
For RAGER, Los Angeles-based artist Macha Suzuki presents a new sculptural installation that approaches rage with restraint, humor, and a quietly judgmental presence.

Two distinct but interconnected forms work in tandem. An elongated, white, leggy structure houses two sets of wind chimes fashioned from ordinary metal closet rods, tuned to the notes F, A, and C, which together form an F major chord. Suspended below, a colorful, geometric Plexiglas form catches the desert wind, setting a six-sided clapper concealed above into motion. The resulting sound is harmonious, resonant, and deceptively lovely.

Its smaller, squat black companion houses a speaker, the two forms connected by a cord that makes their relationship both functional and strangely intimate.

Yet this harmonious arrangement carries a less-than-celebratory message: F for failure.
Minimal in construction yet rich in implication, Suzuki transforms commonplace materials into an unexpected meditation on judgment, disappointment, and the possibility of finding beauty, even humor, in failure.

Come experience Macha Suzuki’s work, along with the rest of RAGER, currently on view at Goat.
