My First Staged Classical Performance!

2023 Ohio University Opera Scenes

Here I enjoyed the honor of playing Don Bartolo in a scene from Barber of Seville and Voltair/Dr. Pangloss from Candide.

Such an incredible experience to work with so many talented young artists from First-years to Grad students.

Shoutout to all the other amazing performances at this year's Spring 2023 VDR by @good_ol_al

Following our week of concerts and homecoming events, the @ousingers hit the road for choir tour.

Getting to visit such wonderful young musicians is such a uniquely rewarding experience.

Big shoutout to all the choirs we visited, I see the present musicians, as well as the future and it is blindingly bright.

We had two concerts, of which I am lacking photos, but they were excellent and I loved singing alongside our hosts.

Onward and forwards through midterms to our next concert set and Opera theater performances!!!

Here at OU we had our first set of fall choir concerts and I had the distinct honor as a graduate conductor to conduct both @ousingers and @singingmenohio

Thank you everyone who was willing to collaborate with me. I appreciate your voices, your skills, and your passion for music making immensely.

Thank you to @peterallenhaley for being an excellent conducting teacher and mentor.

Immediately following our concerts we had several hOUmecoming performances and events which are always a joy!

Tour post coming soon!

My dad was the strongest person I ever met. He immigrated here from Guatemala as a young teenager and met one of the most inspiring people I've ever known, my mom.

My dad passed away this past Tuesday at home, surrounded by family. He would've hated such a big fuss, but the man deserves some acknowledgement. I would never be the person I am today without him. He worked so hard every day of his life. His seemingly endless drive amazed me until his body couldn't keep up with him anymore.

This has been the hardest thing to happen in my life so far. It's still hard to grasp that someone that lived life so large and so unbelievably LOUD is just gone (physically at least). I know I'll think about him every time I pick tomatoes, or burn some food, or speak too loudly without realizing. I will forever be grateful for the memories, the struggles, the lessons, the support, and the unbearable amounts of love he gave me.

I want to say thank you to everyone that has already reached out with so much love and support to me and my family. It helps to know that my dad touched so many people's lives. If you feel so inclined, I love hearing people's favorite memories of him, he always made a good story.

One of my most recent favorites was on a drive to (I think) Kentucky, and he was quite sick and slept most of the way there even with my music playing quite loud. On the way back I put Michael Jackson on shuffle and he didn't stop dancing in the car and humming along for the whole drive home. by @good_ol_al

B.M in Music Performance ✅️

Thank you to everyone who supported me along the way. I could not have done this without the support of my friends and family.

I'm so proud of all the things I've accomplished here at OU. So much that I'll be returning in the fall as a Graduate student in choral conducting.

I am so grateful
