A couple of weeks ago I went to visit my friend in the mountains and spend a couple of days traipsing around a new kind of environment. It being spring, the wildlife was very active and I saw so many beautiful animals and plants, not all of them included in this painting.
.
I wanted to experiment a bit with this one so I tried stacking the different habitats in a zig zaggy composition. I was also feeling a bit annoyed by my watercolours so I put them aside and finished the layering with some fun scribbley coloured pencil. It’s nice to play sometimes!

Everything is bursting with new life and leaves and it has inspired me to make messier marks. Usually my work is very controlled, and even though this painting still has lots of tiny details I’ve been enjoying experimenting with more loose and Scribbly pencil textures. Which is to say - here is my current WIP inspired by beautiful things I’ve seen in nature and the energy of spring. by @gracetaylorillustration

Eeeeep! Look at the pretties!! 😍

I recently found @gracetaylorillustration’s page, and fell in love with her style of drawing instantly. So I bought some of her goodies to share with friends and family. ☺️

I love how many amazing artist we have in Australia, and I love how many of them have a solid business ethic when it comes to environmental sustainability.

Grace does her own printing, which means she can reduce waste by controlling quality from the get-go, and not over-producing things that could end up unsold. She also favours recycled paper stocks, uses compostable cellulose clear bags, values resources by selling off any misprints or not-quite-perfect prints, and repurposes packaging materials where possible. So good!

I have a feeling lots of her illustrations will appeal to many of my followers…. 😍

I’ve been working on a small shop update with all the things I made for Soupermarket, so check in on Wednesday the 23rd for seed envelopes, stickers and selkies (and more prints of the folklore inspired art I’ve been making lately)🌟 by @gracetaylorillustration

I also made a whole bunch of commissions paintings and lots and lots of baked goods that I didn’t document ☺️ #artist #wholesome #cottagecore #whimsy #whimsicalart by @gracetaylorillustration

The Hedge Witch sticker set 🐈‍⬛
For when you want your planner to be a little less practical and a little more practical magic 🔮
After lots of requests I’ve finally made some stickers for you! I’ll be launching them at Soupermarket at @thekeys.leisure tomorrow and then online shortly after!

In all the market preparation excitement I forgot to show you my finished selkie painting 🦭
.
I wanted to create a story where instead of being captured the selkies are free and protected. The selkies of the Southern Rocks are free to nap in the sun and frolic in the waves because the family that keeps the lighthouse also keep away those that might trap them.

I’m currently going through a big nautical phase and I’m very obsessed with lighthouses, wintery oceans and nautical folklore. So I had to make my July newsletter ocean themed! Or more specifically Coral Sea themed, after a visit to my coastal hometown.
.
In it I shared whale watching and lighthouse spotting stories, chatted about my plans to make some coastal fantasy art, made a playlist of nautical themed songs and shared my seaweed foraging stories.
.
My (not ocean themed but equally as whimsical) August newsletter comes out tomorrow, so sign up for free if it’s the kind of reprieve you need in your inbox!
