Mom on a mission to help women find joy + identity through knitting, faith & community 🧶

POSTS STORIES REELS

Hi, friend!
If you’re new here — I’m Gracie! A mama who knits in carpool lanes, grocery pickup lines, and anywhere my needles will let me.

I learned to knit in my early 20s and loved it, but once my kids were little, life got very full and I set it aside for a while. As they got bigger, I picked my needles back up — and it felt like coming home. Knitting became a place to breathe, pray, create, and reconnect with joy in the middle of motherhood chaos.

Now I love to help others find that same sense of joy, identity, and calm through creativity and community.

If you’re looking for cozy inspiration, faith-filled encouragement, mom-life realness, and a community that actually feels like community… you’re in the right place.

Let’s stitch joy together.
✨ Save this for later and give me a follow
✨ Drop a 🧶 so I know you’re here
✨ Tell me how long you’ve been knitting (or if you want to start!)

Since it is a WIP Wednesday, how are those project coming?

A proper video is coming later but I did get my Christmas sweater started and I had to pause my Lakes Sweater. Which is totally unlike me to have 2 wearable projects going on at the same time. But the Christmas sweater gets priority because it has a deadline.

And then there’s that test knit….

Technically, Christmas season starts today but I loved this picture of Vincent so we have one last pumpkin post. Although, we do still have the days around Thanksgiving.

I can’t tell you what year this was, where it was at but I can tell you that he does love a corn maze so that’s probably where we were at! by @gracie.sipsandstitches

I don’t know if everyone else’s knitting social media feed is full of the Sandok sweater like mine is. I honestly didn’t love it at first because of the collar. But then I kept seeing everyone’s versions and modifications. And I saw it unbuttoned.

That’s when it made my “I might need this list”. You know that list that is longer than what you have time to knit for because you have to be an adult and work and take care of kids.

And, there is even a knit-along with @thelooseloop. Which means I would be knitting it with thousands of others.

So de-influence me. Or influence me with color suggestions and yarn suggestions.

Want to learn how to knit but you aren’t sure where to start?! I got you.

Welcome to the first in my series - Knitting 101.

Today I’m talking all about the supplies you need - needles, yarn and notions.

Knitters - what are some of your favorite supplies or resources?!

Let me know in the comments and follow along for more!

I do love a challenging knit and the opportunity to use my brain and learn something new. BUT, I also like the opportunity to turn my brain off a bit and knit miles and miles of stockinette stitch.

I understand the hype of the Lakes Pullover. It’s a super simple design and going to be a great, classic throw over anything sort of oversized pullover this fall and winter. I also love its worsted weight yarn and it is moving pretty quickly.

Shout out to @knit_picks for the Twill yarn.

Maybe we could just file this under the category called “the more you know”. Traveling is tricky business and it’s especially tricky when you are traveling with a knitter, crocheter or any other kind of maker. We need to bring our projects otherwise we won’t know what to do with ourselves. And you would not want to travel with us, trust me. Everyone is happier if we have a project.

Things to know -
1. Project packing planning comes before clothes packing. And we will over pack on both counts.
2. We will pack more projects than what we have time for.
3. Yarn stores are a requirement of the trip.

Share this to someone who needs to tell their non-knitter friends and family. Best to be prepared.

And follow along for more!

As we are coming to the close of our final band parent season, I can not help but be grateful for our staff, pit crew, students and an army of band parents that it takes to put on a great show. So many put in hundreds of hours for these kids who work their tail off. I’m always amazed at the growth of the kids through the season.

New band parents - enjoy the ride! It flies by.

Fellow Senior band parents - cheers! We’ve made it!

So proud of Vincent and his bandmates for their Semi-State performance last night. They finished in the top 10 and will compete at the State Band competition at Lucas Oil. I’m so proud of them and all of their hard work this season.

I don’t know why, but this sound just made me laugh.

I hope my yarn gets just as excited to be knit up as I am to knit it up.

PS The yarn is @sewrellayarn Cardigan from the Eras Tour Collection.

If knitting makes me a grandma, so be it. Cause I would have been a grandma since I was in college.

Whether it is knitting, crochet, gardening, bread making, chicken keeping (or farming?), quilting, or reading - if you love it, do it! These hobbies of ours are a part of who we are. They bring us joy, a sense of accomplishment, creativity and a chance to use our brains in a society that encourages us not to because a computer could do it faster.

I embrace being a grandma hobby enthusiast. I hope you do too! What is your grandma hobby of choice?

This one is all about the yarn - something every knitter or crocheter feels very strongly about.

1. Knitting and collecting yarn are two different hobbies. Do not confuse them. And we never have enough and always need to go yarn shopping.
2. Yarn storage is a thing. Don’t ever suggest we’ve gotten to much.
3. All yarn is not created equal. We all have our preferences. Check with your knitter before buying some as a gift.

Tag, save and share with a non-knitter who needs to understand us a little bit better.
