Your dog comes home from Board & Train… now what? 🐾

The training doesn’t stop at go-home. In fact, what happens next plays a HUGE role in long-term success.

From marker timing to mindset and consistency, the little things matter!

At Gravitas K9, we don’t just train your dog. We teach YOU how to maintain that training with personalized go-home instruction, how-to videos, and lifetime support.

He can handle working K9s… but can he survive an interview with his own kids? 😂🎤🐾

Connor & Kinsley put Dad in the hot seat with some rapid-fire questions, and NOTHING was off limits!

19+ years of K9 experience couldn’t prepare him for this interview. 🤣

One of the biggest perks of training with a husband-and-wife team? Your dog gets both of us.

Dogs don’t always respond the same way to every person — and that’s real life.

Different voices. Different body language. Different handling styles. Same expectations.

We compare notes, troubleshoot together, and help your dog learn to work successfully with more than just one person.

Because the goal isn’t for your dog to only listen to the trainer.

The goal is a family dog trained for real life. 🐾

Choosing a Board & Train is a big decision — and not all programs are created the same.

Before you commit, ask:

1. Where will my dog actually live and train?
2. What happens when my dog comes home?
3. Is the program built for real life — or just quick results?

At Gravitas, we believe good training should go beyond teaching commands. It should help your dog function successfully in everyday life, and it should give you the support and tools to keep that progress going at home.

That’s why we focus on:
• small-capacity Board & Train
• real-life training
• personalized handoff
• lifetime support

Family dogs trained for real life.

One of the biggest misconceptions about training is that maintaining it requires hours of extra work every day.

It doesn’t.

The goal is to make training part of the life you’re already living with your dog — because the small, consistent things you do every day are what protect the progress they’ve made.

Board & Train gives us the opportunity to build a strong foundation. What happens next is where you come in. 🐾

You don’t need hours. You need consistency.

We build the foundation. You keep building on it.

This one may ruffle a few feathers—but it’s something we believe strongly at Gravitas.

If you don’t have time to regularly exercise your dog, you don’t have time to own a dog.

And we’re not talking about a quick trip outside to go potty.

Dogs need movement. They need to walk, sniff, explore, decompress, and engage with the world around them.

We talk all the time about how important regular movement is for us—for physical health, mental health, stress management, and overall well-being. Our dogs are no different.

A lack of appropriate physical and mental outlets can show up as restlessness, destructive behavior, excess energy, frustration, and even make some behavioral struggles harder to manage.

Will a daily walk magically fix reactivity, anxiety, or every behavior problem? No.

But exercise is part of the foundation.

And that’s something we tell our Board & Train clients, too: training is not a replacement for meeting your dog’s basic needs.

Before asking, “How do I stop this behavior?” it’s worth asking:

Am I giving my dog enough appropriate exercise and fulfillment every day?

We can build the foundation.

You have to keep building on it.

Training Families & Dogs to Thrive Together. by @gravitask9training

Introducing Smoke 🐾🐾 by @gravitask9training

Board & Train isn’t about a quick fix — it’s about creating a strong foundation through consistency, repetition and real-life practice.

During their stay with us, dogs aren’t just working through one long training session each day. They’re learning in short, focused sessions throughout the day — typically 5–7 sessions, plus walks, everyday routines and real-world exposure.

Those repetitions add up.

And because our Board & Train dogs live in our home with us, they’re learning how to navigate many of the same things they’ll encounter at home — people, kids, other dogs, activity, downtime and everyday distractions.

Our job is to build the foundation and make those skills familiar and reliable.

Then we pass the torch to you. 🐾

Because the real success of Board & Train comes from continuing to reinforce those skills once your dog is home.

We build the foundation. You keep building on it.

This is why we do what we do. 🐾

Our goal isn’t simply to train your dog — it’s to help create calmer, more confident dogs and give families the tools they need to thrive together long after training ends.

We’re incredibly grateful when families trust us with their dogs, and even more grateful when they take the time to share their experience.

Real-world training. Calm confidence. Real results.

🐾 Board & Train + Private Training by @gravitask9training

The finished product of dog training can look pretty impressive.

A dog holding place while life happens around them.
A reliable recall.
Obedience that looks almost effortless.

But it doesn’t start that way.

It starts like this. 👆🏻

Small movements. Food lures. Repetition. The same simple thing over and over (and over) again.

We break behaviors down into small pieces, teach the dog what we’re asking, and slowly build from there.

It’s not always flashy. In fact, a lot of good dog training is pretty boring. 😂

But those little repetitions add up.

Eventually, what the dog once had to think through becomes something they understand almost automatically.

Simple → repetition → clarity → reliability.

That’s where the good stuff comes from. 🐾 by @gravitask9training
