The year is 2004, you just took the L train from the East Village to your friend’s boyfriend’s place in Williamsburg who calls himself Jazz. You don’t know his real name. You’re all meeting up before heading to The Abbey for a drink. Jazz is playing Scissor Sisters a little too loud (as if that’s even possible) so you go outside to have a smoke. You bum a cigarette off some guy in The Bravery - it’s NOT the singer that’s for sure. You both think the movie Garden State is kitschy and sentimental but you agree The Shins are still really good. From your pocket you take out your headphones and he asks “what are you listening to?” And you say “it’s this song Total Recall by this band called La Notte.” He gets the reference. He loves the song. It is a perfect evening. by @lanottemusic
