open heart surgery is out now!
i’ve spent the last week talking about these songs with the various people that heard them and have loved it, but i don’t have much more to say here. if you listen to this album, thank you 🫶🏽 if you have a question or thought, i’d love to hear! art is for engaging with and i’d really like to hear how you engage with this art.

a few thank you’s:
@jakesandvik made this album come together in so many ways and i am so grateful
@landon.hegedus and @seamusarusrex are always good for a listening ear
@carissa__g you’re my favorite person, biggest cheerleader and supporter, and muse all wrapped in one♥️i love you by @groentunes

Thought we’d share ONE little scene of our new movie Langauge of the Living before our big premiere on Wednesday. Language of the Living follows Damon Groen as he collaborates with the band The Ruralists to record his song, “i-20.” Over the course of three days in Sioux Center, IA, these old friends come together to create art that is raw, beautiful, and authentic, and they rediscover the gathering power of music, and the value of community as the world around them seems to go in the opposite direction. It is the first documentary film by director Jake Sandvik.

Come out to the Davis Theater in Chicago, IL at 7pm December 17th for Independent Film Night! Three films and live music by @groentunes by @groentunes
