A little something about me & of course the person
Behind GroovewithVal🩷🩵

Hello everyone, I’m Val-I am a full time dance instructor who has been teaching kids dance in preschools, local primary schools and international schools for about 11 years before that I was an allied educator teaching in primary school for 5 years before I kick start my journey as a dance teacher.
.
.
.
I always believe is using Arts as a way to advocate young children to learn the different values, building up their confidence level, self awareness, self esteem & discover their own strengths and weaknesses through dance. And what’s drives me to continue what I am doing all these years is to support these children with assurance, skills and nurturing them step by step.
.
.
.
I believe children today don’t need more information. They need embodiment. And For me, dance is not an extra-curricular. It’s a core education. My teaching philosophy is simple : Movement Before Perfection. I teach effort and feeling before technique. A child who feels safe will dare to try and learn it. I want the kids who come under my wing to feel comfortable & safe. With me, I don’t just want to produce good dancers. I want to raise confident, grounded, kind children who know who they are and are not afraid to take up space.
.
.
.
On top of it, I always believe in building bond through dance and music within family. And that’s how the idea of trying to push for my Groove & Grow : Parent-Child Dance Class came about where you can bring your child to attend dance session, sweat it out & have fun together too. No worries for parents who think “I cannot Dance” This class is built specially for you.

If you keen of trying out with your child, feel free to dm me for any further questions I will be gladly to share with you more too. Or you just want to send your child to attend dance class can dm me as well.

Throwback to our first parent-child class that I held last year and it was my first time conducting this with new and old friends who brought their kids or niece/nephew along to attend this class. Thanks to my friends’s support and also friend who encourage me to hold this class so I finally did it.
.
.
.
They had games, learn a short dance routine, exploring movements with their kids and then we had a mini showcase after that. Kudos to @jplatformsg for this space to allow me to hold my class. If you interested to bring your kids along to have some bonding session and shake it off can dm me or can sign up at the form listed in my highlight. Will open the class if I have enough of 5 pairs of parent child sign up. If you wanna hold a parent child class for your kids’ bday party I am also up for it. Just dm me for any collab if you are keen to do it.

Hello Mummies & Daddies, Apart from The Parent Child Class that I am doing, I will also be doing Holiday Program like Dance Camp for Kids age 5 to 12 Years. At the end of the dance camp, we will be inviting the parents to come down to watch their performance.
.
.
.
Sending kids to dance camp can be a fantastic way to boost their development! 😊 Here are some reasons why:

-Confidence boost : Dance camps help kids build confidence and self-esteem through performance and self-expression.

-Creativity unleashed : Dance encourages creativity, imagination, and self-expression.

-Physical fitness : Dance camps promote physical activity, coordination, and overall fitness.

-Social skills : Kids make new friends and learn teamwork, communication, and collaboration.

-Cultural appreciation : Exposure to various dance styles and cultures broadens their perspective.

Plus, it’s a fun way to spend June holidays! 🎉 So parents if you planning or interested to send your kids for a 3 day camp fill with lots of fun and learning can sign up at the form under the Highlight. If you have any enquiry can drop me a dm and I will be happy to answer to your qns. Thank you for your time and supporting my teaching journey🫶🏽 by @groovewithval

Dear Mummies and Daddies friends!

I’m excited to create a safe and fun space for parents and children to bond through dance. This class isn’t just about learning steps—it’s about growing together, sharing moments, and building connections through movement. As we progress, the goal is to have a mini showcase where parents and children can perform together, creating a special memory for family and loved ones to enjoy.

If you’re looking for a meaningful activity to share with your little one, this is for you!

I will be kick starting my next batch in Feb/March so if you keen to just come and shake it off with your kids come and sign up now. I will be putting the Google Docs link in the highlight and you can find from there or you can dm me to enquire for more qns. by @groovewithval
