POSTS STORIES REELS

You can remind a child every morning for years... and they still won’t build the habit of remembering.
Why?
Because every reminder teaches them you’ll do the remembering for them.
Instead of giving the answer, ask a question that helps them find it for themselves.
“What do you need right now?”
If they’re stuck, don’t solve it. Give a clue.
“I bet that concrete’s hot.”
That small shift makes their brain retrieve the answer instead of waiting for yours.
The goal is a child who grows to think for themselves.
What’s the one thing you remind your child about every single day? Tell me in the comments—I might turn it into the next reel.

We teach children to wait for instructions and then expect them to go it alone as teens.
• Teen waits for the next reminder.
• Not done? Parent increases reminders.
• Teen doesn’t get to manage it independently.
Before stepping in, pause and ask yourself: Am I helping or am I doing it for them?

$“It's not my fault!” Recognizing what others did is easy. Recognizing your own part takes practice. Accountability isn't about taking all the blame. Watching a video about calm won't make your house calmer. Practicing it will.

Executive function skills like pausing, planning, and shifting gears grow the same way any skill does: through repetition, in the real moments where you need them. A great lesson gives you the idea. Follow-up practice at home is what turns it into a habit, for you and your child.

That's why the Calm Is Contagious guide & workbook (Episode 1) goes beyond the video:
• Watch-Along Notes that bring each idea back to your own home
• A Hot Moments Lab with small experiments to try this week
• Metaminutes, a quick reflection routine you and your child journal together
• A simple check-in to see what worked and what to try next

Your teen knows what they want. But do they know how to make it happen?
Buying something involves more than knowing the price. Kids need practice figuring out how to earn, budget, save, and wait for something they want.
If we usually handle the money part for them, they may have had very little opportunity to learn those steps.
Financial independence starts with practice.

Stop managing the attitude. Teach the skill.

When your teen snaps, don’t match their energy. Use it to build executive function.

Try shifting them from an emotional reaction to logical planning:

1️⃣ Hold boundaries calmly
2️⃣ Enforce time-management
3️⃣ Build self-ownership
without nagging by my them think on their own.

It is the worst feeling in the world watching your kid get excluded. Our immediate instinct is to protect them and fix it—which usually looks like firing off an email to the teacher or daycare provider.
But forced inclusion isn’t real inclusion.
If we want our kids to be confident, flexible, and self-reliant, we have to teach them how to navigate a “no.” Save this video for the next time your little one comes home feeling left out!
What do you do when your kid gets left out? Do you step in or let them handle it? 👇
