Doubt is not the opposite of faith. Indifference is. Thomas said he wouldn't believe without evidence. Jesus showed up and offered him his hands — no lecture, no shaming, just: put your finger here. People who doubt are still in the conversation. If you're wrestling, you haven't left. More at godsparx.com #GodSparx #Devotional #Doubt #Faith #Jesus by @gxgodsparx
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." — John 3:16 Whoever is the widest word in Scripture. He said He's in it with you. That's different. Use these verses like medicine, not decoration. Pick one, write it where you'll actually see it, and say it out loud when the spiral starts — the out-loud part matters. There's a whole bench depending on what's hitting you: Matthew 6:34 for tomorrow-dread, 2 Timothy 1:7 for a mind that won't settle, 1 Peter 5:7 for the reminder that He genuinely cares. And if anxiety is wrecking your daily life, talking to a doctor or a counselor is wisdom, not weak faith. The darkest chapter had an appointed expiration date. Three things Jeremiah 29:11 actually means. The exile isn't the end of the testimony. God's intentions stayed good the entire time He wasn't rescuing them yet. And the darkest chapter had an appointed end date written into it from the start. That's a promise sturdy enough to survive your worst year. The mug version isn't. If you're in an exile season you didn't choose — a diagnosis, a layoff, a wilderness — plant a garden in Babylon. "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." — Isaiah 41:10 Every command in this verse leans on the same four words: I am with you. If you assume God's default is disappointment, read one verse further. Everyone can quote John 3:16. Almost nobody quotes 3:17 — "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." If you've spent years assuming God's default posture toward you is condemnation, that's the correction in writing. Worth knowing who He said it to, as well: Nicodemus, a religious expert who showed up at night with questions. Questions were allowed then. They're allowed now. You can be faithful and exhausted at the same time. Right after the biggest victory of his life, Elijah sat under a tree and asked God to end it. God's response wasn't a rebuke or a sermon. It was sleep, then food, then more sleep. Sometimes the most spiritual thing available to you is going to bed. He knows what you're made of. Jesus literally said don't babble. If prayer feels awkward, that's not a sign you're bad at it — every relationship has stilted early conversations. Keep going. In Matthew 6:7 Jesus said don't babble on like a pile of words impresses God, then modeled a prayer that's short, plain, and takes about twenty seconds. And on the days you can't find any words at all, Romans 8:26 says the Spirit intercedes through wordless groans. Even your silence gets translated. If you've never really prayed, here's the whole thing in four steps. Pause — thirty seconds of quiet, because you're not summoning anyone, He was already listening. Rejoice — thank Him for one real, specific thing. Ask — for other people and for yourself, and say the true thing rather than the polished one. Yield — "Your will be done," which is the part that turns anxiety into trust. If it feels awkward, that's normal. Every relationship has stilted early conversations. And on the nights you can't find words at all, Romans 8:26 says the Spirit translates the groaning. Even your silence gets through. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." — Matthew 11:28 The invitation is aimed at tired people specifically. That's the qualification. The casseroles stop coming. Yours doesn't go back to normal. The hardest stretch of grief usually isn't the funeral — it's the long middle, after everyone else's life resumes and yours doesn't. Psalm 147:3 says He binds up wounds, and binding a wound is gradual work, not a magic trick. Psalm 23 puts it plainly: you walk through the valley. Not around it, not airlifted out of it. Through it, and not alone. And 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 promises the thing you're carrying will eventually become comfort you hand to somebody else. Your grief won't be wasted.
