One month married and we already know everything. (We don’t. But we did learn a few things.)

Here’s what one month of marriage taught us:

1. Marry your best friend. On the angry, exhausted, hangry days, remembering they still chose to be here changes everything.

2. How you “like things done” matters way less than building systems and routines together.

3. Be consistently spontaneous. Small, thoughtful surprises go a long way.

4. Communicate, even if you let the frustration go. It keeps resentment from building up later.

5. Share the little dumb things you think about. That’s where the real connection happens.

6. Make space to share. Not everyone grew up feeling free to speak up, so ask questions and be curious enough to let your person get their thoughts out.

7. You don’t make time for each other. You have to take it.

8. A disagreement is not a disaster.

9. Regular check ins make the time apart easier.

10. ”My wife makes a mean Americano.” (His words, not mine.) But really, feeling seen can be as simple as your person knowing your favorite things.

We definitely don’t have it all figured out, but we’re figuring it out together.

What’s one thing you’ve learned in your marriage?
