Needless to say I don’t think Rigo likes Parker very much… by @halxbrown

Hello IG friends. It is with my utmost devastation and heartbreak to say that my best friend Quasimoto has crossed the rainbow bridge. After over a year without working hind legs I thought, damn! This guy is definitely making it to 20! But unfortunately at 16 a melanoma decided to grow inside his mouth, making his time come to an end sooner than expected. This last year had already been tough watching him deteriorate but at least with a pair of wheels and some medication he was still unstoppable and more importantly, comfortable. Then this goddamn melanoma came out of nowhere and started taking its toll. For a little while he remained happy and comfortable, but eventually it was affecting his ability to eat comfortably, and was spreading to his lymph nodes and lungs. After a couple of weeks of blending his food up to make it easier for him to eat it, I noticed he was having a hard time breathing, and that a significant amount of weight loss was apparent. This may have been one of the toughest choices I’ve ever had to make in my life, but I had to do it for him. Now, as much as there is a ton of grief and sadness in this post, there is also an insurmountable amount of gratitude for having such a wonderful friend by my side for these 16 long years, and that it was done peacefully rather than it happening in a traumatizing, painful emergency. Words cannot express my love for this beautiful being, nor how much I am going to miss my best friend. All I can say is I did my best to keep you as happy and comfortable for as long as I could, and I know very well you shared the same love and gratitude for me. Rest easy old boy, and I’ll see you on the other side. I love you so much. Goodbye. 😭 💔 ❤️‍🩹 by @halxbrown

Just added a 10 min long behind the scenes video on my website talking about my short film Time is calling. You can watch the whole thing at Rolbyfilms.com and stream Time is calling there as well!

This is just the first 2 mins of bts while we filmed the walk and talk scene with my friend Rodrigo.

Starting to film the pilot episode for Answerthatcall in less than 2 weeks. So excited! by @halxbrown

Here is a deleted scene from my short film “Time Is Calling…” There’s a term in filmmaking called kill your darlings. It basically just means to not hold on to scenes or shots that don’t serve the story no matter how much you love them. For this scene we spent about 4 hours shooting this really simple set up. I really loved the location and even though the rain kept us from setting up sooner it felt like a good shoot.

But I had to remove it from the final edit for a few reasons.

First off the audio was terrible. I underestimated the noise from the nearby highway and decided against lav mics. Mistake #1

Mistake #2 was my writing. I wanted to give some context to how my character was feeling and honestly it was just bland writing that added about 10% to my character. Also my acting was terrible in this lol

Mistake #3 was pacing. It really just messed with the pacing of the film. After removing it to see how it felt I realized that this conversation was just slowing everything down. It had to go.

So next time you are working on something make sure to not get too attached, sometimes you have to kill your darlings. by @halxbrown

June 26th I’ll be premiering my short film. Link is in bio blah blah y’all know what to do. Come support independent filmmaking.

My first short film “Time Is Calling..” is premiering June 26th in Fort Lauderdale...

If you’ve been following me for the last year or two you know I’ve been putting this short film together for a while and it’s finally finished! I’m so excited to showcase this really personal film. It’s the first time I have ever done any type of narrative work and I hope it resonates with you as much as it resonated with me as I was writing it.

It deals with one of my biggest fears and something that inevitably affects us all which is time.

What is the short film about: A dark comedy, “Time Is Calling...” explores the cost of not being present in a world driven by deadlines, anxiety, and the relentless grind of making money.

I’m throwing a premiere event for the film on Thursday, June 26th and tickets are on sale now! It’s gonna be a fun event that I will be talking about more in depth this week. I’m super excited to get this short film out and truly be able to call myself a filmmaker. I no longer aspire to be a filmmaker, I am one and this just the beginning of this Journey.

Come see it first. Laugh, reflect, and maybe walk out seeing time a little differently.
