blurry mind by @hamodygannam

The rose that grew from concrete.

I’ve known those words for years.

And somehow, they mean more to me now than they did when I was younger.

Maybe because I’m starting to understand the concrete, not just the rose.

The streets I grew up around. The people who shaped me. The things I still carry without always realizing it.

This weekend I walked around my neighborhood with my camera.

Nothing planned. Just me and the streets I know so well.

And somehow, I kept finding pieces of myself in the things I photographed. by @hamodygannam

I’ve been thinking lately about how much of life happens in between the things we actually plan.

I plan shoots.
I plan campaigns.
I plan meetings.
I plan what needs to go online, what needs to be designed, what needs to be fixed, and what needs to happen next.

And then there’s everything in between.

A coffee that takes longer than expected.
A conversation that changes the direction of an idea.
Walking somewhere with absolutely no intention of taking a photo, then suddenly stopping because the light hits something in a way that feels impossible to ignore.

A client says one sentence and somehow it stays in my head for the rest of the day.

An idea I was sure about in the morning feels completely wrong by the afternoon.

Some days I feel incredibly productive.

Other days I spend hours moving things around without really knowing if I’m moving forward.

I used to think creative work was mostly about making things.

After doing this for so many years, I’m starting to think it’s much more about noticing things.

Noticing people.
Noticing patterns.
Noticing the little inconsistencies nobody talks about.
Noticing when something feels fake.
Noticing when something suddenly feels right.

And maybe that’s why I keep taking these random little videos during the week.

Most of them were never meant to become anything.

A street.
A plate.
Someone working.
A strange detail.
A moment at the studio.
Something funny.
Something beautiful.
Something completely ordinary.

Twenty seconds of things that probably don’t belong together.

But somehow, when I put them next to each other, they start looking like a week.

Not the organized version.
Not the calendar version.
Not the polished version.
Not the version I would put in a presentation.

The actual one.

And maybe I want to start keeping more of that here.

Not everything needs to become a project.

Sometimes it can just be proof that I was paying attention. by @hamodygannam

Memory doesn’t always return the way it left.
Sometimes it wakes up as something else—
Half beast, half code.
Rooted in foreign soil,
Sniffing out something familiar.
And we? We just watch from the shade.
Waiting.

Particles of a Dissolving Future

As part of the group exhibition at the Umm el-Fahem Art Gallery, my work responds to and engages with the practice of Mona Hatoum.

This piece addresses the ongoing presence of the digital self, surveillance, and the collapsing boundary between private and public space. It functions as a mirror and a statement — a persistent reminder of connectivity as a condition.

The exhibition runs from November 2024 to April 2025.
