ll it’s an inside job ll

Our practices grow with us.
Some bits stay while others fall away.
I don’t see change or adaptation as loss but as expansion to what comes next.
Slowly I have been shifting, evolving and finding different pathways of guiding, holding space, noticing, and creating connection.
Both inner and outer landscapes of my practice are changing for me. Perhaps it’s changing for you too.

For a long time especially as a new practitioner asana was the practice.
These days asana has become the backdrop of a much larger picture. What I crave is the soft slow sense of time passing and the quiet opening and closing of my breath.
At some point in any practice, change will come.

Now my practice expresses itself as;
-navigating a room
-my responses
-friendships
-relationships
-parenting
-intentions
-spending
-what I digest
-my attention
-value and self worth
-clarity and compassion
-alignment and ethics
And many more.

Practice doesn’t end once we roll up the mat, finish the breathwork, come out of our seat. It continues on.

This post is a reflection of my own noticing and is not being offered as a comparison.
Our journey is unique to each of us, and of equal value.
When we hear the whisper of our true nature, we are called to listen.

You will find me guiding public practices but also expanding in new ways with Autumns arrival. I look forward to sharing new tools, experiences and practices with you.

In the meantime, stay curious and be well.
With love,
Heidi

|| AIKA - The OG ||

Taking it back to the first BEING at @aikaspa where we gathered, pondered, wandered and connected.

Curiosity, noticing, feeling and simply slowing down so we can recognize we are much more than the daily grind.

Each one is different and unfolds as the group/individual needs become clear. Sometimes it’s quiet and rest, discussion or alone time and often laughter.

I recognize that it’s a privilege to hold space like this.

To take time to notice the earth underfoot and the trees reaching high.

To witness compassion and understanding flow between old friends and new ones.

It will be our 4th session guiding @aikaspa in the new setting on @thejenkinfarm.

|| this is the practice ||

Here’s the catch, it can be uncomfortable.

This is where co-regulation comes in and this is the work I find so powerful and beautiful.

A group led with compassion can open up spaces and places you didn’t know were there.

Join me in practice as we learn to experience ourselves and others.

|| The ART of BEING ||
A morning offering to foster slowness, release, and presence.

Join your facilitators Heidi Whent (yoga, mindfulness and meditation teacher) and Tristan Jenkins (owner and operator of AIKA Spa + Jenkin Farm) for an intention-led, 4-hour session exploring the “Art of Being” at AIKA SPA in the stunning Squamish Valley.

AIKA SPA has moved into a large forest setting for you to wander through, a mother tree to find awe, sit spots to pause, the stone circle to gather, and places to lounge, listen and receive rest.

As many of us know we are overwhelmed and over scheduled, this offering is open with “no agenda” other than to land in the space and explore with soft guidance as well as freedom.

Everything is optional.
Do as much or as little as feels right.

What is woven through our experience;

🍂nature immersion
🍂breath, meditation + inquiry
🍂AIKA hot /cold /rest cycles
🍂Herbal tea to sip
🍂restful practice to close the circle
🍂a small group of 10 people max

An intentional pause with like-minded folks under a canopy of trees and the stillness of the mountain.

Life asks us to do.
The forest asks us to remember.
Welcome to the ART of BEING.

|| 7 sunrises ||
I set myself a brief the last week of August to rise early and get out to watch the sunrise at some of my favourite sit spots.

I would arrive, do lymph work, breath work, pause/sit, then watch the sun.
Not all days were picture perfect.
But perfect because of what I experienced each time inside.

Set yourself a brief/project/assignment and see what happens
