Freehand cabled cardigan! Yarn is #sandnesgarnpeergynt
I’m planning on casting on a second one in cream next by @handmade_by_florence

Swipe to see a post from just about a year ago >
I abandoned these mittens last year due mostly to fit issues - I was knitting them as the pattern instructed (they’re from the book Estonian Knitting 3: Mittens). But I always seem to underestimate how big I need to knit the style of mittens without extra thumb space; I’ve never managed to get a pair to fit well.
Since I still want to wear them this winter, I have cast them on again - this time I’m using a cuff design from a different mitten in the same book, with the white section in the middle removed because I’m so off-gauge. I have also added increases for the thumb section. I do still want to knit a more traditionally-shaped pair, but it won’t be this one.
Yarn (from the new pair) is #jamiesonsshetlandspindrift
I’m using 2.25mm and 2.5mm for this year’s pair (and a smaller stitch count), although the last ones were on 1.5mm and 2mm needles and I think had the stitch count from the book. by @handmade_by_florence

Sharing my finished summer top from this year! The pattern is by @the_knit_purl_girl and is the #isabeltop
Yarn is #knittingforolivemerino in shade Ice Blue. I think I made the second size, with added waist decreases. by @handmade_by_florence

I pulled this long-shelved project out a couple of weeks ago - it’s a copy of a design from “Estonian Knitting III: Mittens” with a modified construction to add some more thumb space. I would like to finish it to wear this winter, and will pick up the yarn I need to complete the pair soon.
Yarn is my favourite for mittens, #jamiesonsshetlandspindrift (please don’t ask what colours, I wish I knew 😵‍💫) by @handmade_by_florence

More photos from Unravel a couple of weeks ago! Featuring the lovely yarn I bought 🧶🐑
I’ve been quite sick lately, but some calls for testers for a couple of pairs of mittens will go up on my Instagram story over the weekend! by @handmade_by_florence

Dare I say this might be my favourite thing I’ve ever made?
I am running out of yarn (did I lose a lot or not buy enough in the first place?) and it’s taking me forever but it fits so well and the cables look so beautiful in this yarn/colour.
Yarn is #sandnesgarnpeergynt and there isn’t a pattern (I’ve been making it up as I go) by @handmade_by_florence

I had a lovely time at Unravel Autumn at the weekend! Sharing some of the beautiful yarn I picked up and can’t wait to cast on. Especially those plant-dyed minis, which will become a(nother) pair of flowery mittens 🌷🌷🌷 by @handmade_by_florence

Some pretty mittens in progress! I picked up some different yarn I thought might suit this pattern better to try, and I like it more than what I was using before. Yarn for this second sample is #darumagenmou in Navy and Dusty Pink.
I’m getting there with the pattern so there should be a call for testers quite soon on this one!
This specific yarn was purchased myself but this pattern is in collaboration with @theyarnarchive 🌷 by @handmade_by_florence

Sharing this piece I have in progress - a baby blue asymmetric cabled cardigan! Yarn is #sandnesgarnpeergynt
I’m hoping to get this done soon so I can work on a pattern for winter.
Also the shirt underneath is my first attempt at sewing a garment from a weekend or two ago! So happy with it 🪡 by @handmade_by_florence

A little while ago @theyarnarchive reached out to me to ask if I could design some mittens using some of the yarn available at their store for a ceramic-inspired design, and this is what I ended up putting together! This is just a first sample, so some adjustments need to be made, but I am so happy with it - I love the design and it knits up so quickly.
I’m currently procrastinating on charting a thumb design by casting on the second mitten (in inverted colours). I think this will be ready for testing by the end of the month, and we are considering doing a KAL too!
The yarn is Nikke Joyful Fine, but I just ordered some Daruma Genmou in pink and navy to test out for a second sample. Hopefully that will work out too! by @handmade_by_florence

I hate taking pictures of my face but! A week or so ago I finished this very speedy project that I almost completed in an evening and I wanted to show it. The pattern is by @ratandseawitch and the yarn is #knittingforolivemerino - the pattern calls for DK but I just sized down my needles and used fingering-weight yarn, since you can kind of just keep going until the scarf is the size you want.
It definitely gives a different look as the original is designed to have more structure but I’m happy with the result! 🫜 by @handmade_by_florence

I’m going to make the version with the pearls on the front I think! The yarn is #knittingforolivemerino in Ice Blue by @handmade_by_florence
