3 EASY WAYS TO RETAIN LONG NATURAL HAIR

1. Have a simple haircare routine.
Pre-poo, cleanse, deep condition, moisturise and seal. Consistency matters more than having too many products.

2. Make low-tension protective styles your best friend.
Choose styles that protect your ends without pulling your scalp or stressing your hairline. Remember, not every protective style protects your hair.

3. Handle your hair gently.
Detangle carefully, avoid excessive manipulation, and be gentle when styling or taking down your hair. Rough handling can contribute to breakage and poor length retention. by @harethair

I finally found a natural hair salon near me that prioritises healthy hair care!🥰 by @harethair

Your hair could be healthier and longer if you stopped making these mistakes:

1. Rough detangling could be breaking your hair.

2. Dryness could be causing excessive hair breakage.

3. Tight hairstyles could be damaging your edges.

4. Product buildup could be affecting your scalp health.

5. Poor takedown practices could be costing you length.

6. Excessive heat could be damaging your hair strands. by @harethair

I had my last hair trim for 2026. ✂️
Looking forward to healthier hair, stronger ends and better length retention in 2027.

You never knew these habits were negatively affecting your hair growth

1. Combing your hair aggressively, especially from the roots.
2. Keeping your hair in protective styles without actually protecting your hair.
3. Moisturising only when your hair feels extremely dry.
4. Allowing scalp issues to linger.
5. Using products without paying attention to how your hair responds.

There’s no magic. This is what your hair actually needs for better health, volume and length retention.

Just the right habits, repeated consistently:

• Gentle handling
• Proper moisture
• Protecting your hair
• Less unnecessary manipulation
• A healthy hair and scalp-care routine
• Hairstyles that don’t constantly stress your hair
• Consistency with what works for your hair

Your hair may not need to grow faster.

A lot of women say, “My hair is not growing.”
But sometimes, the problem isn’t growth.

Your hair can be growing from the scalp while you keep losing the same length through:
• Rough detangling
• Excessive manipulation
• Tight hairstyles
• Dry, brittle strands
• Poor takedown techniques
• Constant heat

That’s why I talk so much about length retention.
The goal isn’t simply to make your hair grow.

The goal is to keep more of what you grow.

It needs consistent care that reduces unnecessary breakage. by @harethair

These 3 habits have helped me retain more hair than I realised.

Interestingly, none of them involves a miracle product.

1. I stopped rushing through my hair.

I became more intentional with detangling, takedowns, and styling. Less rushing meant less unnecessary breakage.

2. I learned to leave my hair alone.

I don't need to constantly touch, restyle, or manipulate my hair just because I can. Sometimes, the best thing I can do is put it away and let it be.

3. I started paying attention to patterns.

Instead of randomly trying things, I started noticing what made my hair dry, what caused excessive tangling, what styles my hair tolerated, and what didn't.

That changed the way I cared for my hair.

Because for me, length retention didn't come from finding one magical product.

It came from becoming more intentional about how I handled the hair I already had.

And honestly, these habits helped me more than I realised.

“The best thing you can do for your hair this month might be absolutely nothing new.”

Don't buy another product yet.

Don't change your entire routine.

Don't start another viral hair challenge.

Instead, take a hard look at what you're already doing.

Are you actually using the products you bought?

Are you giving your hair enough time to respond?

Are you consistent with the basics?

Are you observing what works and what doesn't?

Sometimes we're so busy searching for the next solution that we never give the solutions we already have a fair chance.

Before adding something new, ask yourself what needs to change about what you're already doing.

Your hair may not need more.

Your routine may need more intention.

A hairstyle can look beautiful, last for weeks, and still be too stressful for your hair.

The word protective has made many women assume that any hairstyle they don't have to manipulate daily must be good for their hair.

Not necessarily.

A protective style should help reduce unnecessary manipulation, not create excessive tension.

If your scalp hurts after installation, your edges feel constantly pulled, you develop bumps around your hairline, or you find yourself struggling to sleep because of the tension, that's not something you should simply endure for the sake of keeping the style.

And please don't believe that:

"It hurts now, but I'll get used to it."

Pain is not a requirement for healthy hair.

Your hairstyle should serve your hair goals, not sabotage them.

Choose styles that allow your scalp and hair to remain comfortable, and pay attention to how your hair responds after installation.

Beautiful hair is not worth sacrificing your hairline for.

One mistake most women make with their hair ends.

They wait until their ends are severely damaged before doing anything about them.

By the time the ends are extremely rough, splitting, tangling constantly or breaking easily, they start searching for a product that will magically repair everything.

A product cannot permanently fix a significantly split or broken hair fibre back together.

Some products can temporarily improve the feel and appearance of damaged hair, but that doesn't mean the underlying damage has been permanently repaired.

It's better to fix your hair concerns as soon as you notice them.
