This Latinx Heritage Month, in my newest blog post, “Breaking the Cycle: Embracing Peace in the Chaos of Latino Family Dynamics,” I explore the vibrant yet sometimes overwhelming world of big Latino families. We all know that family gatherings can be a whirlwind of love, laughter, and a bit of chaos—whether it’s the lively conversations, the savoring flavored food, or the many opinions flying around the table!

While these moments are often filled with joy, they can also bring challenges that test our patience and understanding. It’s often cultural expectations and traditions that clash with personal boundaries. honor our Honoring our heritage while also prioritizing our mental well-being can be a limbo. From navigating family roles to breaking free from old patterns, this journey is all about surving through the chaos while finding peace within it…. 📎 in bio by @hashtagiamenough

Acknowledge the contributions and experiences of Afro-Latinos during Latinx Heritage Month and beyond.

Uplift their voices, uplift their stories, and support their fight for recognition and representation.

We are still oppressed. Use your platform wisely. by @hashtagiamenough

Why do we often wait for tragedy to strike before we feel compelled to care? A simple post asking for prayers is not enough; we must consider the restoration and preparation needed after the chaos. Recent portrayals of Haiti in the media have been dehumanizing, normalizing a distasteful narrative.Haitians have often been overlooked in Latinx history, consistently marginalized.

They do not receive the recognition they rightfully deserve. I urge the Latinx community,to stand in solidarity with Haiti and be vocal allies. Let’s celebrate Haiti’s resilience and strength, and acknowledge the history of colonization that has contributed to the wealth of affluent nations. 🔗 bio !

Disrespecting Haitian culture means disrespecting a rich history that has made significant contributions to the world.

Haiti is known for its strength and intellect, and after enduring so much, it is important to protect and honor their heritage.

Be cautious of your words and actions, as Haitians do not take disrespect lightly.

Haitian aunties are known to stand up for their own, and as a friend to a Haitian, I will not tolerate any disrespect towards them. Panamanians stand in solidarity with Haitians, and it’s important to remember their resilience and strength.

Think twice before disrespecting a culture that has had such a powerful impact on history. 🇭🇹 by @hashtagiamenough

I want to use my story as a a guide to help and support my community during times of uncertainty.

This past year has been a wild ride. I faced my demons, lost my dream job, and had to rebuild from the ground up.

As a Black Latina, I know how to turn pain into power. I’ve learned to prioritize my own healing and to find calm in the chaos. If you’re in the midst of your own storm, just know this: you’re not alone, and you are unbreakable.

I know how to nurture myself even when things get tough. I can turn it into fuel for growth. If you’re in the midst of your own hard season.

Vulnerability used to scare me. I thought it made me weak. But this past year, I’ve learned that being open and honest about my struggles is actually a sign of strength.

I’ve discovered the power of saying “I’m not okay” and asking for help. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, don’t be afraid to let people in.

I’ve found strength in my roots and in the community of strong Black Latinas who have come before me.

If you’re a fellow Black Latina going through a tough time, know that you are seen, you are heard, and you are unbreakable.

Calling all those celebrating Latinx heritage: as we shine a light on the African diaspora influence, let’s choose our recognition wisely.

It’s time to bring inclusivity to the forefront and give rightful acknowledgment to the rich black presence in Latin America.

Let’s celebrate diversity and unity in all its beautiful shades and hues.

Let us know the celebration in the NYC areas so we can show love ❤️ by @hashtagiamenough

I feel overpowered, ignored and forgotten about, because a term that felt like home and became my safe haven’t.

This isn’t the first time I felt invisible. Remember not feeling Latina enough.

Yeah, my inner child feels hidden.

Afro-Latinas have always existed, we have always been purposefully disregarded in a lot of places, so we have had to work extremely hard to make sure that discussions about us are prioritized.

It is not just impolite but disrespectful to incorrectly use the phrase “Afro-Latina.”

The arrogance of misidentifying someone to fit a story intrigues me just as much as Blackface.

Growing up, I learned that speaking up, especially as a child, was not encouraged. This mindset extended beyond home to schools, where children were often silenced. While it’s important to respect our elders, I often felt dismissed.

As an adult, I still struggle to express my feelings without fear of judgment. This suppression led to anger and frustration, which I often kept bottled up. I’ve come to accept that my voice may never be fully heard. It’s a reality I’ve had to face.

The only way I’ve managed to cope is by creating a safe space for myself, allowing my inner child to express freely. However, this freedom is something I can never fully experience again. It’s a loss that deeply hurts.

The emotional scars from being silenced still affect me today, making it difficult to set boundaries or express anger without being labeled as “self-destructive.”

My emotions feel muted, as if they’ve been silenced for years. I’m working hard to unlearn these patterns and reclaim my voice. I wish I could feel more of my emotions freely. It’s a journey of self-discovery and healing that I’m still on. 🔗 in bio

I want to break free from the limitations of being a “Build-A-Black-Girl” and instead, embrace the fullness of who I am.

I want to be able to live a life of freedom, joy, and fulfillment, as a Black woman who is unapologetically herself.

I want to be able to heal from the trauma that has been passed down through generations, without feeling like I have to carry the weight of the world on my shoulders.

I want to be able to live authentically as a Black woman, without feeling like I have to conform to society’s expectations of who I should be. 🔗 in bio!

My last heartbreak was a turning point in my journey towards self-discovery and empowerment. It forced me to confront the harsh reality that I had been living on autopilot, pouring my heart and soul into someone who didn’t reciprocate my love and affection. I was so consumed by the need for validation from this person that I neglected my own emotional well-being. I felt like I wasn’t enough, that I needed to change who I was to make them love me. But the truth is, their lack of love had nothing to do with me; it was a reflection of their own insecurities and flaws.

I chose the latter. I started to focus on building a stronger connection with myself, rather than trying to change someone else’s mind. I learned to love and accept myself, flaws and all. I realized that self-love is not selfish; it’s essential for our well-being and growth.

To anyone who has experienced heartbreak, know that you are not alone. It’s okay to feel broken, but don’t let it define you. Use it as a catalyst for growth, and remember that you are stronger than you think. You are worthy of love and respect, not just from others, but from yourself. 🔗 in bio

Despite attempts to embrace our sexuality, many Black women, myself included, feel more comfortable covering up rather than exposing ourselves to the gaze of others. The trauma of being objectified and reduced to mere sexual objects has left us questioning our worth and value beyond physical appearance. 🔗 in bio!

Black Love Is Revolutionary. I am a product of Black love, and I honor that. I love that I was created by a Black man and a Black woman.

My concept of love was shaped by what I saw growing up – the iconic 90’s era of Black love portrayed in culture and media.

Black love, to me, was about unity, family, protection, liberation, freedom, loyalty, sensuality, humor, and faith. 🔗 in bio!
