Last month, Nashville welcomed higher education planners from across the South for the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) Southern 2026 Regional Conference. Casey Estanislao, Principal at HASTINGS, served as Conference Chair and led the planning and development of the three-day event.   This year’s theme, “Focused on the Future: Planning with Purpose,” challenged attendees to move beyond reacting to change and use integrated planning to shape the future of their campuses. Hosting the conference in our hometown gave colleagues a firsthand look at how Nashville’s campuses and culture continue to evolve.  With twenty years of experience and ten years at HASTINGS, Casey leads with strategic vision and a deep commitment to fostering excellence in architecture and design. At HASTINGS, she oversees firm-wide initiatives that advance our portfolio and ensure alignment with client goals and community impact. As a member of the SCUP Southeast Regional Council, she brought that same leadership to shaping this year’s conference. by @hastingsarchitecture
Taking a look back at Middle Tennessee State University’s Science building. This facility houses classrooms, lecture halls, teaching laboratories, research laboratories, faculty offices, a greenhouse, and many student collaboration areas. The highlight, however, is a 3-story atrium that not only welcomes visitors, but provides elegant space for social gatherings and student presentations. At approximately 250,000 square feet, the “C” shaped building, constructed primarily of brick, metal panel and aluminum curtainwall, creates an inviting courtyard containing both landscape and hardscape. by @hastingsarchitecture

HASTINGS own, Dave Powell, will present at the AIA Arkansas State Convention today!    His session, “Harmony and Dissonance: Responding to the Rapidly Changing Face of Nashville,” looks past the honky-tonks and the “Music City, USA” brand to the deeper cultural layers of our hometown. Dave will share the work of HASTINGS and how his own path as a musician and architect shapes his design process. At its heart, it’s a story about celebrating Nashville’s true character as the city grows and changes around us.   The convention brings together architects, designers, engineers, planners, and builders from across the state each year. We’re grateful to AIA Arkansas for the invitation. If you’re in Rogers, check out his panel from 2-3PM today! by @hastingsarchitecture
