The Fiber Alumni Invitational exhibition is viewable in the Mary Cornwell Gallery at Haywood Community College. The show is composed of works from seventeen HCC graduates from as far back as 2012. Most of the objects were created in their final semester at HCC as their capstone or thesis works. The gallery is open during school hours, and gallery talks will be offered on September 18 at 11am and 1pm. The exhibition is free and open to the public as part of the Haywood County Studio Tour. by @haywood.studios
Haywood Professional Crafts is a Craft Catalyst!!! 🚀🎨 So excited for the future! We’re beyond thrilled to receive a $100k grant from @centerforcraft and @etsy. This is a massive win for our entire community, our incredible alumni, our hardworking current students, and the future makers who will walk through our doors. Big things are coming to the studios! ✨ #HCCProfessionalCrafts #haywoodstudios #CraftCatalyst #StudioLife #WNCMakers #CenterForCraft #Etsy ..................................................................... In partnership with Etsy, the Center for Craft is proud to launch the Craft Catalyst Initiative, an ambitious new program that will invest $10 million over three years in craft hubs across the United States. The funding will be distributed to nonprofit organizations that support craft artists and ensure makers remain woven into local culture and economies. In an increasingly digitized world, human connection and creative expression through craft are more essential than ever. This place-based initiative is a commitment to fortify local creative ecosystems by investing directly in spaces, relationships, and infrastructure. In its first round, $2 million in unrestricted funding will be awarded to 20 nonprofit organizations across five craft hubs nationwide. Each recipient receives $100,000 to direct toward their highest priorities — building capacity, navigating shared challenges, and strengthening support for makers in their region.
