(Full vid on YT now!) I can’t believe it’s the 1 year anniversary of #ExplodingStar 🤯 Celebrating w/ our FINAL live session video, the title track & emotional center of the album.

I could never have imagined just how much joy & connection I’d stumble into making a record that deals with loss.
I have never felt more elation on stage, more embodied in the studio, more honored to have been on the receiving end of so many of your grief stories (after shows, in messages and DMs)…
Somehow it all felt like my dad’s final and greatest gift to me—that loss could be such a doorway.

Thank you to my cosmic collaborators (listed below!), my Kickst@rters, my P@tre0n P@tr0ns, all of the show-goers and grief-sharers & the friends who convinced me to be so open with my grappling, etc. I love you all❤️

This live session series is recorded with my dears @highteaband & @donmitchell , and the whole session can now be watched in it’s entirety on my y0utube channel

MASSIVE thanks to the INCREDIBLE @luciatarro & @_jaimesi for capturing sparks, filming & editing to perfection!

Recorded & mixed by the incomparable ears of @andrew_oedel at our beloved @ghosthitrecording

It’s out 🤍 Exploding Star is for dad, for you, for grieving *and* celebrating, for unabashed blooming in the most unlikely of places & times.

It’s an ode to being tender when the world feels harsh. It’s one big long love song to life cycles & to the unfathomable ripples we make with our living and our dying.
Thank you for allowing me to make the art I feel called to make. I’m so stupidly lucky.

This album wouldn’t have happened without the support & creativity of SO MANY good ones. Thank you x1,000,000 to:

🌟my k!ckst@rter backers & p@tre0n fam!!!

🌟@highteaband for the brilliant arrangements & harmonies & friendship through the hardest thing. Isabella & Isaac helped sculpt these songs, road-test & refine them. They added so much intention & dimension to this album. Layers that are audible and layers that are felt. I’m forever grateful.

🌟 @donmitchell for the most care-full production & vision & expert translation of feelings to sounds. It was magic to watch Don weave & build & guide the songs along their path. All so incredibly thoughtfully. 10 years after our Woodstock whirlwind, this was such a meaningful, full circle collaboration that I treasure

🌟 @reedsutherland (beautiful bass & piano & talent that has consistently blown my mind for years), Ariel Bernstein (beautiful percussion!), David Senft (beautiful harms!)

🌟 @andrew_oedel on the perfect mixes, as always

🌟 @testtubeaudio on masterful mastering, as always

🌟 my dream team! @bproofmgmt for steering the ship & @paladinartists artists for routing the course

🌟everyone at my beloved record label @signaturesoundsrec . Over a decade in this fam. The best best best. I love yous

🌟my friends & family, esp the ones who talked me into it (you know who you are🤍)

🌟 my dad, for all of the lessons, then and now by @heathermaloney_

*There is a short evening-time orientation on Aug 25
& an optional Arcadia songwriter showcase on Aug 29

INSTRUCTORS: Heather Maloney, @donmitchell , @kimayadiggs , @rtsumner , @jakeklar_ & Chris Freeman

DAYCAMP INFO: Get inspired in a deeply supportive community of songwriters (from beginner to advanced), as we deep-dive into a multi-step musical journey from stoking inspiration, to writing, refining, and ultimately performing a song we feel proud of.

Our new schedule will include free/unstructured time for:

🌱writing/collaboration
🌱optional workshops
🌱special guest guest instructors
🌱in-depth Q+As
🌱gentle song feedback circles
🌱multiple performance opportunities— including the option to play at this year’s Arcadia Folk Festival!

We’ll work our way from page to stage together, touching on all the steps along the way:

🌱 Feed inspiration / get “unstuck” with free-writing techniques + song deconstructions
🌱 Finish / refine your songs with tried-and-true songwriting tools + feedback
🌱 Get comfortable on stage with a *more* in-depth Q&A, covering topics like stage fright, working with a sound engineer, stage banter, mic technique + more
🌱 Move at your own pace + customize your schedule with optional workshops (music business + more)
🌱 Perform a song in a showcase with your fellow song-campers at Arcadia Folk Festival or on the Parlor Room stage at the workshop finale by @heathermaloney_
