POSTS STORIES REELS

What do you do when your artist name no longer holds who you are becoming? ❤️‍🔥

In this episode of @hellomynameispod I chat with singer-songwriter Onmayone to talk about her name(s) as she begins a new artistic journey.

We talk about her names Temi, Temi B and Onmayone and explore how her new artist name came to be and what it means.

We also talk about
- how naming, identity, expression and artistry intersect
- the release of her new music “speak2me”, &
- what’s next for her

This is a conversation about naming yourself, becoming more honest about who you are, and making space for the artist you’re becoming🐦‍🔥

I’m sooo excited for you to listen & very grateful to be back talking about and sharing name stories.

If this episode resonates with you, let me know or leave me comment here or @hellomynameispod.

new new new @hellomynameispod episode ft my
dearest @mo.o.nflower 🌸🪷

Olivia and I explore what it means to move through life with multiple names, multiple selves, and constant states of becoming. We also talk about and challenge the ways “ease” shapes some of our naming decisions, while also accepting the names we’ve adorned ourselves with despite how they came to be.

You’d hear in this conversation that we sit with the complexities of shame, lineage, protection, identity, reinvention, and the quiet power of choosing who you are and who you want to become. And at the heart of it all is her reminder that she is — and we all are — ever blooming 🥀🌹.

I’ve really loved re-listening, editing and putting together this carousel. If this conversation resonates with you, listen to the full episode wherever you get your podcasts and let me know what you think 🥰.

“I really enjoy the woman I’m becoming. I actually love her. I’ve taken alot of time to get here but I really do like her. I think she’s cool. I want to be friends with her”

New episode of @hellomynameispod ft the sweetest @tantoluwaa and her name stories. On this episode, we explore how naming can be a tool for building confidence, beginning again, and stepping into new versions of yourself.

Her story encompasses how names can carry healing, resilience, and authenticity all at once. This was a conversation about becoming, affirmation, and the continuous journey back to self.

Thank you again, Tantoluwa for trusting me with your stories. I’m really grateful for the opportunity to share intimacy in this way, through names. I really enjoyed this one. Hope you do too. 🫶🏾🩶

“My parents are so dramatic and so am I. It kind of set the tone, right? I feel like it was like a bit of foreshadowing of who I turned out to be”

✨ new episode of @hellomynameispod is out! ✨

This time I had the absolute joy of talking with my bestie, @tiiese , about the story and journey of her name. After 20+ years of knowing her, it’s a blessing to still learn new things about each other 😅

We got into the meaning of her name and how her name has shaped her faith and identity. We also talked about the intimacy of family nicknames, the frustrations and lessons of mispronunciations, and what it looks like to move from shyness and feeling othered to standing in full pride and inviting curiosity about your name.

This conversation reminded me that names can be blessings, affirmations, and even practices of building confidence.

I pulled some of my favourite gems from the convo — do any resonate with you?

Thank you again, T , for sharing your story and for always being willing to try anything with me. Listen to the full conversation wherever you listen to your podcasts 🩶

new episode of @hellomynameispod is out!🎉🫵🏾
I had the pleasure of chatting with my transome friend @katiitilifecoaching about his name, ceremony and ancestry behind his name, how it’s tied to legacy and self-definition, and why protecting it is also protecting his inner child.

I really enjoyed this conversation and it was a reminder that: you are who you say you are and no one else gets to define that for you. There were a lot of gems that came from the conversation and I pulled some of my favourite moments from the convo. Do you resonate with any?

Thank you again, Adebayo for joining me. Listen to the full conversation wherever you listen to your podcasts 🫶🏾🥰🏳️‍⚧️

“I really needed this change of name. To move from Fiyin, who was timid and reserved, to Mofi, who is bold, takes risks, and fights for herself”

Hi friends! Episode 1 is out of HMNI, ft me, Mofi 🎉😅. I share a couple of my names and a bit about my name story on this episode. Especially how much Mofi feels like me and holding space for Fiyin and the journey of becoming through my names.

I hope you enjoy it - and if this resonates with you - leave me a comment and share it with a friend 🫶🏾

I was listening to a panel discussion and some described naming as vagabond behaviour and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since.

To me it meant that naming can be fluid, disruptive, rebellious, and necessary for survival. It can be a way to reclaim, to resist, and a necessary part of our becoming.

I’ve seen people name themselves to reflect who they are, not just who they were expected to be and I love that. It’s my fave type of naming practice.

Thank you to everyone for supporting the pod so far and telling me how much the topic resonates. It means a lot to me.

A name is more than just a label. it holds memory, meaning, dreams, and sometimes resistance.

If you’ve ever questioned, challenged, held tightly, or changed your name to better reflect who you are… I’m working on this podcast with you in mind.

What does your name feel like in your body?

We often talk about names from the perspective of the person who gave it to us. But I’m curious about what it means to carry a name. To live with it. To respond to it. To be shaped by it.

Naming as an embodied practice is asking:
✨ What does your name say about you and your history?
🧠 What pressures or connections do you feel when you hear your name?
✨ What emotions arise when you hear or say your name?
💛 Does it feel like home? Is it something you’re still growing into?
✨ Do you have a complicated relationship with your name?

This is a clip from the intro episode of @hellomynameispod a storytelling podcast about names and naming. It’s out now and you can find it wherever you listen to your podcasts.
