Last night was our strength session and we introduced the squad to barbell snatches and bench press. Part of learning to bench press is learning to spot each other. This means being there as a safety back up when your partner is benching. Helping and encouraging them and knowing when to step in and help and when not to.

Finisher
3 x
12 Air squats
9 DB snatch
6 Butterfly sit ups

Next week it’s back to engine building and plyometrics.

Training is only a small part of what we do.

We want you to enjoy your fitness, with good people around you and coaches who help you.

We’re a friendly local gym in Henlow, and we’d love to have a chat if you’re thinking about getting started. by @henlow_functional_fitness

Last week we finished with a simple 60 second sit up test as part of our bodyweight session.

Part of our programming includes working the squad towards grading, so we spend a few minutes at the end of each session seeing where they’re currently at and using it to measure progress.

One of the things we teach from the start is upholding standards. When your partner is doing the challenge it’s your job to count their reps, help them do it correctly but telling them if the movement doesn’t meet the correct standards and most importantly, cheer them on.

There is no negative talk in the gym. Only learning.

Effort. Integrity. Respect.

Still find the rings intimidating. by @henlow_functional_fitness

Blown away with this lovely card from one of our members on her one year anniversary with us.

Thank you, Emma, you’ve absolutely smashed it, and we love having you as part of the team.

Dear Kev & Den,
Thank you for one whole year of HfF.
When I started I thought it was just abort getting fitter, but it’s a whole lot more than that. There’s a real sense of community ot Hff that I hadn’t expeded to find. I feel constantly encouraged. I appreciate you pushing me to be my best, go further, go harder. I feel more confident in my berdy and what I’m capable of, stronger, healthier and happier.
It’s encouraged those around me to exercise - my husband, my work colleague. My daughter is inspired at the age of five and talks abort being strong, which means the world to me.
I wanted you to know the difference you make. It’s so much more than just going to the gym.’
Thark you,

Small groups, expert coaching and friendly little bunch of folk.

Every level and ability catered for. We have members from 11 years old to over 70. The majority of our members just want to get a bit fitter for everyday life and learn to exercise properly and safely at very competitive prices.

If you’re considering joining a gym, come along for a free trial. We offer strength sessions and fitness sessions 7 days a week over at Henlow just a few minutes walk from Arlesey station.

Sessions start at 6am.

No commitment, no joining fee, no long term contracts. Just come along and give it a try. We’ll give you a free pass too to see if it’s for you.

The people that join us aren’t confident gym people.
Often they’re busy, nervous, restarting or convinced they’re ‘not fit enough’
Once you come in, you’ll be made to feel so welcome, get your confidence back and be supported every step of the way.
There’s no judgement here. We work hard to build a place where you feel safe and everyone that comes here shares that value.
If you’ve been thinking about joining but feel nervous about the first step come and have a coffee with us and let’s make a plan.
