New Week, New Park: Meadow Farm Museum/ Parsons Community Center Meadow Farm Museum/ Parsons Community Center is a specialty site located in the Brookland District and can also be called Crump Park. We are committed to sharing the complete history of all our historic properties and thereโ€™s a lot to say about Meadow Farm! One interesting tidbit is that for 40 years we presented the story of the Sheppard family from 1713 to 1980. In fall 2021, and in an effort to honor all the inhabitants of the land at Crump Park, we rededicated the modern building on the grounds as the โ€œParsons Community Centerโ€ named for the family of enslaved workers associated with the Sheppard family from 1809 to 1939. You can take a tour of the historic farmhouse during regular building hours. Just be sure to arrive by 3 p.m. to allow time for your tour! Parsons Community Center Hours: Marchโ€“November: Wednesdayโ€“Sunday, noonโ€“4 p.m. Decemberโ€“February: Saturdayโ€“Sunday, noonโ€“4 p.m. Thereโ€™s another Storytime with Pearl on November 13 from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., featuring a special Thanksgiving story! ๐Ÿ‘ Also, be sure to take advantage of the fall photo backdrop before it disappears on November 12! ๐Ÿ Here you come again... and here I go to explore another park! ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ [Video description: A Recreation staff member puts lipstick, wig, and earrings on while talking to the camera. She pulls a strip of paper out of a cup that reads โ€œMeadow Farm Museum/ Parsons Community Centerโ€. Clips show Pearl the Sheep Puppet Show, staff talking, historic farmhouse, grounds, and train cars. The video ends with the park address: 3400 Mountain Road.] by @henricorecparks
