“Asian American herbalism are folk traditions that center the healing plants passed down through the generations to heal, uplift, and improve the quality of daily life. The herbs and folk traditions that have served humanity since before written history are still relevant to modern life. Thus, this work is an awakening of the wisdom that is already in us and all around us. These are not mystical secrets that need discovery. On the contrary, this work is about the humble ways that healing takes place in our homes, gardens, and community spaces every day. Asian American herbalism is meaningful because it is not just about how the herbs can benefit health - it’s about empathy, resilience, and understanding the human condition on an energetic level.” - From Asian American Herbalism: Traditional and Modern Healing Practices for Everyday Wellness (@papress / @chroniclebooks ) To learn more: Preorder before October 19th from your favorite retailer and sign up via HerbFolkShop.com to receive bonus materials plus a chance to win a gift package + an herbal consultation with Erin Mark your calendar for a FREE wellness workshop day on Saturday, October 14th from 10am - 1pm @tenfoldfarmstand #herbfolk #asianamericanherbalism #chinesemedicine #japanesemedicine #hellaasian #herbalism #herbalist #healocal #healthjustuce #earthbased by @herbfolkmedicine
When I was a teen, my grandpa Hiroshi bought me my first herb book from a grocery store health aisle. It was Rosemary’s Family Herbal, and I still love it. Rosemary @rosemarygladstar has raised so many herbalists on her books and legacy that spans from Sonoma County, CA to the East Coast and beyond. Honestly, I was nervous to ask her to review and consider endorsing Asian American Herbalism. But she is a literal angel on earth and was so generous with her time and praise. Truly a ✨pinch me✨ moment. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Rosemary! #asianamericanherbalism #herbfolk #herbalist #herbalism by @herbfolkmedicine

Seattle, Let’s make moxa together. On November 7, we’re learning all about Cold, Dampness, and the Winter Season in the Body @hildegardseattle with @spiralguideherbs We’ll talk immunity and dampness through the lens of Chinese medicine, and how to care for ourselves through winter. And then deep dive into my favorite modality for winter wellness, moxibustion. You’ll learn how to make moxa from dried mugwort leaves and study its energetic properties. There will be time for hands on practice of how to use on the body and various acupuncture points. And we’ll sit down together for a warming congee lunch. Herbs to sip and materials to take home, too. Come learn with us! Link in bio. by @herbfolkmedicine
Seattle Friends, Let’s learn together in November. I’m teaching 3 days with some of my favorite herb friends. Join us! Clare of @spiralguideherbs and I are teaching Reading the Body Through Chinese Medicine at @hildegardseattle November 7–8. We will learn traditional practices like cupping and moxibustion to reduce stress and tension in the body, for emotional and spiritual balance. With time to practice new skills, ask questions, and get a feel for these traditions in your own body. One of my favorite parts of teaching is being together in a room, where one person’s question opens up something for all of us. I’m looking forward to a whole weekend of that. Whether you’re curious about Chinese medicine or looking to deepen your work as a practitioner, you’re welcome. Come for one day or join us for both. November 7–8 · Hildegard · Seattle Details and registration at the link in my bio. I’ll also be at BARN Bainbridge Island with Abby Rappoport @medicinegarden_pnw on November 5 for Herbal Medicine: Roots and Deep Immunity. Both workshops are linked in my bio. by @herbfolkmedicine

It's happening! Thanks to all of the amazing artists who have submitted their beautiful works of art, we are so fortunate to exhibit Asian American and Pacific Islander arts. Opening reception will be September 27th from 2pm-4pm. It's going to be a magical experience, as this is the first I've ever had a hand in an art exhibit! Tell your friends and family. I hope to see you there! ✨️ #amayayoshikawaart #sebastopol #aapicommunity #exhibit by @herbfolkmedicine
Summertime and the living’s easy… Calm Heart, Cool Mind was created as a summer tea according to Chinese Medicine - a naturally sweet, floral blend of tulsi, rose, oat tops, oat straw, and a little bit of honeysuckle. A soft, beautiful tea for warm days, busy hearts, and slow evenings. I make every Herb Folk tea in small batches using freshly dried, organic herbs. Each blend includes at least one US-grown herb, and this season’s tulsi from @oshalafarm is beyond. Available at HerbFolkShop.com by @herbfolkmedicine
