Llanwnda Holy Well

A stop for pilgrims travelling north to St David’s. The well and surrounding stones suggest that Llanwnda was a sacred location long before the nearby church was constructed.

Although there is no evidence today, it is possible that a Celtic monastery once existed here.

The Water Wheel at Melin Tregwynt, St Nicholas, near Fishguard

This water wheel was made in West Wales by Cardigan Engineering Company around 1910. The water wheel was originally used to drive leather belts and run the carding engines and power looms, transforming the power of the water into energy that drove the machines.

Today the mill’s looms need an even supply of power and run off the modern electricity supply.

The wheel was restored in 2014, and now a coupling could be fitted at the end of its shaft in the existing gear box to produce electricity. Even though the power would not be sufficient for any machinery, it would be enough for lighting.
