How do you balance out wider shoulders and a short torso with your choice of skirt/trousers to create a beautifully proportioned feminine shape?

High-waisted maxi skirts are great for those of us with short bodies and long legs, as they balance out the proportions and make you look statuesque af

One way we can balance out broad shoulders in femme dressing is to add volume to the legs in the form of fishtail (AKA mermaid), A-line and pleated skirts or bootcut/flared trousers.

As modelled by the ray of light that is @gina_lunata 🌙 as part of a Masterclass filmed at @the_boudoir_london for the Boudoir Members Club online community. See the Patreon link in their bio to access the full video, plus lots of other inspiring and educational content geared towards the male-to-female trans community.

My beautiful, kind and inspiring client Lisa came to me in the beginning stages of her transition looking for some guidance on developing her own style. We agreed that a Colour & Body Shape Analysis, followed by a Personal Shopping Day, would be the best way to establish her new look.

This comparison shows just how much of a difference a Colour Analysis can make to your appearance.

In the Before photo, although the pink blazer and silver jewellery are perfect for Lisa, you can see how the wig is too warm in tone and looks separate from her obviously cool-toned features, which throws off the look.

However, when she turned up at @the_boudoir_london armed with the results of her Colour Analysis, Jodie was able to choose hair and makeup colours from Lisa’s unique palette that complemented her perfectly… and the result is total harmony ⚖️

When combined with some of the new pieces selected for her by me during our Personal Shopping trip, you can see that Lisa not only looks like a million dollars, but also looks totally at ease and comfortable in herself, which she will tell you, wasn’t the case in the Before photo.

“I can honestly say that the session with Danny has been one of the highlights of my transition so far, something that had never really been within my reference so I was completely unaware of what was going to happen. Danny explained everything beautifully and was very confident in everything she said which is something I really value. She also made the process a lot of fun!

“I always say it is a pleasure to watch someone who is very good at what they do, do that thing. This was one of those cases for me.

“Outside of that Danny seems to be a genuinely nice person who cares deeply about putting her clients at ease and working with them on their level, which in this world where there can be a lot of uncertainty and self doubt is a wonderful trait to have.

“I am really looking forward to using what we learned in this session and start to release ‘new and improved Lissy’ on the world!”

Send me a DM to get the Lissy treatment for yourself 🤍

So many trans+ people can’t shake the feeling that they’re being selfish by transitioning because they feel responsible (or are made to feel responsible) for “ruining” their relationships and uprooting everybody’s lives around them… and whilst I can understand this feeling, I cannot let you accept it as truth.

This video explains why transitioning is NOT “selfish” and why trans+ people should be seen as role models in society who are part of the solution of making the world a better place 🫶🏼

On a scale from 1 to @zendaya, how much is my blowdry giving ‘News Anchor realness’ here? Because that’s basically my goal every time I style my hair.

See also slide 4 for some 2012 hair inspo from @dominiquesachse AKA the blueprint for the News Anchor blowout.

When I’ve perfected it, I promise I’ll do a tutorial (it’s much harder than it looks on hair like mine, which doesn’t hold a curl very easily)

Swipe to the end for the full outfit from yesterday. I was going to see The Devil Wears Prada musical (@pradawestend) at the theatre, so I needed something that was comfortable for sitting down for 3 hours AND appropriate for the warm weather in London AND chic (goes without saying).

These mesh face coverings are so handy. They’re lightweight enough that you can still see through them and they won’t ruin your glam, but still work as a buffer between your makeup and your clothes.

I also take them for clients when I’m out doing Personal Shopping because the amount of high-end stores with expensive inventory that don’t have these in their fitting rooms as standard is actually flabbergasting 😅

I’ve shared the link to the ones I use in my ‘LINKS’ stories highlight.

Do you use these or something similar? Or do you usually just pull your clothes over your head and say a prayer? 💀

In a world that is so focused on appearances, the harsh reality is that life is much easier as a trans person when you pass. But passing is not the be-all and end-all when it comes to being accepted by society, which is why I wanted to offer an alternative to those of you who struggle with the way you look.

Whilst I would argue that the issue of self-image is 90% an internal battle that can only be tackled with inner work, for the remaining 10% that is actually rooted in how you present yourself, I think it’s vital to have a fundamental understanding of things like your style personality, your most flattering colours and how to dress for your unique body shape.

Your social stocks can go up drastically once you figure these things out, but it can take years to learn it all on your own through trial and error. Working with a Personal Stylist can fast-track that process and get you significantly closer to looking like your ideal self in as little as a few weeks (and for as little as £175 for a Colour & Body Shape Analysis – genuinely my best value-for-money service!)

Visit my website (link in bio) to get a feel for the different services that I offer – both in London and online – and DM me if you have any questions.

Hello beautiful people. I’ve been lucky enough to host a number of online Personal Styling Masterclasses specifically catering to trans women and fem-dressers over at @the_boudoir_london

Here is a little nugget from one of those videos about colour theory. So many of my trans clients on their femme fashion journey struggle with how to pair colours together, so they end up with either a closet full of neutrals OR clothes that just don’t quite work together.

See the full Masterclass – as well as other inspiring stories, interviews and behind-the-scenes footage from London’s iconic trans dressing service – at Patreon.com/TheBoudoirMembersClub

If you’d like to work with me 1-on-1, such as a Colour Analysis session where I help you determine your best colour palette, you know where to find me 🤍 by @heshewore

Two years ago, I made the daunting decision to start presenting as femme in my everyday life and since then, everything seems to have fallen into place.

I feel so much more aligned and it has given way to so many new opportunities, experiences and relationships that could not have happened if I kept my true self in hiding.

I appreciate that this is not the reality for everybody, but I can guarantee you this: living out of alignment with who you really are on the inside is a one-way ticket to unhappiness and regret. If there’s a will, there’s a way. Find it 🤍

Breaking down three huge AW24 trends + my MTF-friendly recommendations for each of them.

Whether you take notice of them or not, trends are constantly influencing the way we dress… my mind immediately goes to Miranda Priestly’s infamous ‘cerulean’ monologue from the Devil Wears Prada, which perfectly summarises how the creative decisions made on the runways each season have a significant trickle-down effect on every corner of the clothing industry.
