POSTS STORIES REELS

I’m Oli, and I’ve been into cars for as long as I can remember. People often ask me where that passion — some might even call it an obsession — comes from. The truth is, I don’t really know. It’s just always been there.

What I do know is where my love for wrenching started. Growing up in a small rural town in Germany, I was fascinated by tractors as a kid. When I was about nine, my dad made me the happiest kid in town by buying a rusty 1959 tractor and restoring it with me. That project lit the spark.

Fast-forward about a decade — somewhere between university and living through the fever dream that was the COVID pandemic — I decided to finally seize the opportunity and build my dream car. That project became the starting point for everything that’s happened in my car journey since. It also inspired me to create @build2sample , a space where I bring tangible dreams to life, while in my day job in finance I deal with much less tangible assets.

In 2024, I decided to step into the ring and see how far my (admittedly slightly overconfident) persona could take me in real racing. Together with Julien, I competed at Spa — and we actually did alright. Hooked on the indescribable feeling you only get after taking Eau Rouge flat, I pitched Julien and Laszlo on an improbable idea: founding our own race team.

One year later, that crazy idea has grown into something real. We’ve become a team, made countless friends along the way, and know deep down — this is just the beginning. by @hfmstrs.racing

I’m Laszlo, and cars have fascinated me for as long as I can remember - not just driving them, but tearing them apart, fixing them, and mostly breaking them again.

I started out on two wheels, racing motocross from age six until a crash in 2019 sidelined me. Four wheels felt like the next step. Before my first race I had exactly one trackday and two drift events under my belt. Probably not enough, but definitely enough to get hooked.

My first car? A BMW E30 325i that I inherited from my grandfather - same model as our race car today. Coincidence? Maybe. Destiny? I like to think so. Atleast we have a rolling spare parts depot with us at the track.

I was fortunate enough to inherit the ability to gather the most car parts for the smallest amount of money. Jokes aside, my parents taught me a lot - without them, this wouldn’t have been possible.

Now I’m the guy in our team who drives and keeps the car alive. Oil stains on my clothes, a beer in my hand, and way too much trust in “driving by feel”. Analytics are cool, but I prefer instinct.

Off track, I study Economic Science in Frankfurt, I work at a project management firm in the wine industry, sometimes I sell cars, I bake sourdough bread, cook, hike, and love to hit the sauna.

On track, I just want to push the car - and have a damn good time doing it. by @hfmstrs.racing

Hi, I’m Julien. I was born into motorsport—literally strapped into a Ferrari in a baby seat like it was normal.
It wasn’t.

While other kids were learning to ride bikes, I spent my weekends at the racetrack—watching my dad do endless laps with 20 other financially irresponsible men deep in their midlife crises.
My childhood smelled like race fuel and optimism—basically the gateway drug to my own financial downfall.

But plot twist:
Turns out passion doesn’t pay for parts.

So I started @buongiusti - a business that prints pizza boxes with ads on them.
Yes, it’s a real company. Yes, I launched it during A-levels.
Yes, Oliver helped and got paid in stress, pasta and countless cold espresso.

Fast forward: I test-drove real race cars, picked up some experience, and accidentally convinced myself I was good at this. Confidence was high. Bank account: not so much.

Then came the RCN.
My final race of the season? A 3-hour rainfest at the Nürburgring.
I’d never driven the ‘Ring in the wet before. Still threw down solid laptimes.
I might have finished on the podium—if the car hadn’t retired early with a technical failure.
It was heartbreaking. And honestly? Kind of addicting.

Now? I co-founded a historic motorsport team with Oliver and Laszlo and I’m lucky enough to afford roughly one-third of an E30 race car—don’t ask which third, it’s most likely the leaky one.

Three young idiots in a sea of legends who’ve been racing since ABS was invented. We transport our gear ourselves, race on tight budgets, and operate on caffeine and blind faith.

In the team, I’m the guy who keeps the circus running:
Organizing logistics, hauling gear and car to tracks, handling schedules, making sure Laszlo doesn’t forget his suit again… the usual.
If something needs doing, I probably already half-did it and swore about it in the process.
I’d never admit it out loud, but I enjoy managing the chaos behind the scenes just as much as I love being behind the wheel.

Alright, that’s the story so far - now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got tools to pack, emails to ignore, and probably something leaking in the trailer. by @hfmstrs.racing

What an anazing weekend at Nurburgring @1000kmnuerburgring with the awesome and welcoming @hfmstrs.racing team. Hats off to all of u guys🫡 1/3 by @hfmstrs.racing

What a way to end the season. 🏆

Race 1 ended with a rocker arm failure, we weren’t sure if we would even make it back onto the grid for race 2.

But the team got the car back together, and we went racing again.

What followed was one of the toughest races of our season, with heavy rain and constantly changing conditions.

In the end: P1.

Going from a DNF and a damaged engine to standing on the top step less than a day later says more about this team than anything ever did.

Every single person who was there played a part in making this happen. That’s what makes this year‘s @1000kmnuerburgring so special.

What we’ve built together this season is only the beginning.

Next year gets bigger.

GO FAST!
DON’T DIE!

Only one more week until the @hfmstrs.racing department is back on track for the @1000kmnuerburgring race!

So let’s look forward to it by looking back at the first stint of the current season back in April, with these never before shared photos! If you’d build up a racing team with your best mates, how would you do it and what would you race in?
