I got sick of all the hate-porn, so I made a project that humanizes Palestinians + Israelis. Stories of humanity, from the river to the sea. @hieram X @thirdnarrative by @hieram
THE BREAKBEAT ⚡️⚡️ (1/1 #KoolHerc handpainted leather blazer) Hip Hop was born in 1973 when Jamaican-American DJ Kool Herc pioneered a turntable technique he called the ‘Merry Go-Round”. Herc isolated the instrumental drum section in James Brown records, going back and forth between 2 turntables to play a continuous loop and extend the drum ‘break’. This new rhythm was called the #Breakbeat and became the foundation of Hip Hop. 🇯🇲🇺🇸 MOVE THE NEEDLE is a collection of wearable art featuring iconic music makers everything 1-of-1 👀 hieram.ca LINK IN BIO 🎨 @hieram 📷 @lanedorsey 🎤 @odario 🎩 @coup_de_tete #upcycle #hiphop #legend #DjKoolHerc by @hieram
#HannieSchaft was a WW2 Dutch Resistance fighter who became #1 on the Nazi Most Wanted list. Together with the #Oversteegen sisters, Schaft would seduce Nazis in bars and bring them out to the forest to be ambushed. Known as ‘the girl with the red hair’, she was only 24 when she was captured and executed. Hannie Schaft is recognized as Righteous Among the Nations, a title honouring those who risked their lives to save Jews during the Holocaust. ✡️ 🎨 @hieram 📷 @mrgiladcohen 👩🏻‍🦰 @redheadinthecity by @hieram
Eddie Koiki Mabo was an Indigenous Torres Straight Islander who fought for Aboriginal land rights in Australia. in 1993, he won a 10-year legal battle resulting in a landmark decision against colonialism which finally recognized land claims for Indigenous people. I made this piece for an auction in Toronto as part of a fundraiser for Australian bushfire relief. The event raised money for firefighters and wildlife rescue and I’m proud to have been part of that. Very special thanks to the Mabo family for their gracious permission to make this artwork. It was an honour to learn about Eddie Mabo and his legacy. MABO (1/1 handpainted military jacket) by @hieram
